US teen admits to aiding Lars Vilks murder plot

A teenager of Pakistani origin resident in the US has admitted to assisting in the so-called "Jihad Jane" plot to murder Swedish artist Lars Vilks.

The 18-year-old on Friday pleaded guilty to terrorism charges and faces up to 15 years imprisonment, according to a report in the Star Tribune daily.

Mohammad Hassan Khalid once appeared to have a bright future in the US after completing high school with honours and winning a full scholarship to prestigious Johns Hopkins University, until his arrest by the FBI last summer aged 17.

Khalid admitted to being involved in the plot led by Colleen LaRose, a US woman dubbed "Jihad Jane", to support an Irish terror cell in targeting the controversial Swedish artist as part of a European holy war.

LaRose, 47, pleaded guilty last year to related charges and could face life behind bars.

She was arrested in October 2009 for her role in a plot to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who unleashed a storm of protests from Muslims with his cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad seen as insulting to Islam.

While Mohammad Hassan Khalid is legally resident in the US, in difference from his family he had never become a naturalized US citizens and thus faces likely deportation after serving his sentence.

Trowbridge .... for those of us who missed the drama of Gwrhyr trying to entrap you, can you please summarize and provide links to articles where you were both posting to each other (unless the attempted seductions were by private email). Thanks.

i think the guy made a mistake for the plot according to anyone but he was just mere 15yr old. besides the court was waiting untill he turned 18 to me otherwise why wasnt he been charged long ago. its unfortunate for him cos of his talent and the full scholarship he got. but one thing that causes unrest and such a bad connections btwn various people is the CATALYST. normally media and THE MISSUSE OF FREEDOM. u art or dare draw a minster falsely, what about prophet who had trillions n more followers? the other day, a minister was cutting a piece of cake-a clear insult to black people n since then the minister and the artist apologised instantly but wat about carl?

unbalanced world. lets wake up and think.

Hate to say it Trow, but if the US wanted you dead and gone, you would be. It isn't too hard to find you.

@Trowbridge H. Ford: I know it is hard....but you need to accept the very fact that you are suffering from acute schizophrenia. You need proper medical care.

I know I should be supportive of T-bone getting help, but without his paranoid delusions the Local would be much less entertaining.

"Right, tell it to the emergency room at Danderyd who told me there was nothing wrong with me after I collapsed, unconscious back in 1997-8, as I recall, at Grönsta, and was taken by ambulance there where I was sewn up, and given a capscan."

Did the find anything wrong with your cap?

I apologize for taking advantage of your mistake.

You have never offered even one credible shred of evidence for all that you claim.

Oh, God. A conversation with a person with paranoid personality disorder.

Townbridge, just stop...

You invite this on yourself all the time and apparently are getting upset and even more unstable. What for? It is just tragic.
