With Sweden's Princess Estelle's christening just days away, the Royal Court on Friday released new images of the infant princess and her proud parents, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

On Tuesday, May 22nd Princess Estelle will be christened in a formal ceremony at the Royal Chapel in the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The ceremony, which takes place one day shy of Estelle's three-month birthday, will be conducted by Archbishop Anders Wejryd, who also officiated over the 2010 wedding of the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel.

Ever since Estelle's February 22nd birth, the Royal Court has periodically released new images of Sweden's newest princess.

"Many say that Estelle's eyes look a lot like Victoria's. The images reveal a lot of love and are very personal for royal pictures," royal expert and editor of Royal Magazine previously told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

The two images released on Friday are high-resolution black and white portraits, one of Estelle alone, and one in which she sits comfortably in the arms of her proud parents.

The pictures are taken by photographer Kate Gabor, who has taken the previous pictures of Estelle released by the Royal Court, although a Royal Court spokesperson couldn't confirm exactly when they were taken.

"We got them in the press office a few days ago; they're quite new," Royal Court spokesperson Bertil Tenert told Aftonbladet.

Estelle's christening is scheduled to take place at noon on May 22nd and expected to last about an hour, after which the royal family will attend a reception at the Royal Palace.

The princess, whose full name is Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary, Duchess of Östergötland, will be 13 weeks old when she is baptized, almost exactly the same age Crown Princess Victoria was when she was christened in September 1977.

Why Black and White?

Don't they have color photography in Sweden? (Not sure if going for the classic look is always the best approach)

And "Sweden readies" ?
16:21 May 19, 2012 by Opinionfool
@dizzymoe33

That's true of every three month old baby nothing special because ehe's a princess.

@Snoopy!

It's grammatically okay (though one might expect in other contexts such as "Sweden readies for war") but whether factual that's another issue.

Personally I'm readying myself for indifference to it all.

OpinionFool: dizzymoe33 never said it had anything to do with her being a princess, I don't know where you came up with that.

Saab: Even you obviously care enough to stop and comment, if you don't care ignore it and move on and let us that do care enjoy it without your negative comments.

SecondGen: Fine something better to complain about. Seriously.

And nothing better for you to comment upon either. Ho hum.

@SwedePea,

Actually I check in on these "stories" to (a) find out how many people still fall for the concept of a royalty (the ultimate in nepotism) (b) stir the pot so that people like you can have an increase in blood pressure and rupture a plaque and (c) to cure insomnia. I mean, really... who cares about such nonsense except for the tax payers who fund them. Too bad we can't have term limits on this royalty stuff. After 8 years, it's on to some other "Royal" family.

Elin Nordegren anyone? (At least she can live off her labor, sort of... double entendre there!)

"how many people still fall for the concept of a royalty (the ultimate in nepotism"

In England supposedly 80% of the population still want to retain the monarchy or so a survey published in the last few days suggests. As the Swedish royals were attending on Queen Elizabeth II's jubilee dinner on Saturday perhaps they want to take heart that some parts of the English still don't want to give on the notion just yet.
