'Remember my face': murder suspect

A man previously detained for the suspected murder of a 48-year-old man in January has had his remand period extended in Malmö on Thursday resulting in a dramatic court room scene.

The victim, 48-year-old Charles Limerius, was shot dead on Kantatgatan in Malmö, just 20 metres from his front door in Malmö's Lindängen neighbourhood in January.

In court on Thursday, the suspected killer stood up after the verdict was delivered, waved his arms in the air furiously and yelled “I don’t care about Swedish justice,” wrote daily Aftonbladet.

“Remember my face until the day I come out. I won’t stop,” the man yelled to the prosecutor Anders Petersson, according to the paper.

The suspect’s lawyer has refused to comment on the incident.

Police had previously arrested the 28-year-old father of two and he has been in custody for more than two months. He denies having committed the crime, however.

Early in May, police went public with the theory that Limerius wasn't the intended target for the shooting.

"One of the leads we're working on supposes he was shot by mistake," police investigator Monica Olhed told TT at the time.

Three women have also been arrested for their involvement in the crime. One of the women was allegedly raped by the intended target of the shooting, a 54-year-old man.

The other two women, a mother and daughter, lost their respective husband and father when he was murdered by the targeted man some 20 years ago, and later convicted.

The case took an unforeseen twist when it turned out that the intended target, a 54-year-old man, is also involved in suspected serial-killer Peter Mangs' trial, which is currently taking place in Malmö.

The 54-year-old was allegedly almost another victim of Mangs.

Aftonbladet reports that Mangs stood armed outside the man’s apartment a number of times waiting for him, with Mangs looking to avenge the man's involvement in another unrelated crime.

“The involvement with Peter Mangs was completely surprising for my client, and when he heard about this second case it seemed absurd,” said the man’s lawyer Jan-Anders Hybelius to Aftonbladet.

does this man have a name? what about the ''three women'? what about the 'inteded target', does he not have a name either?

lucun, do you not live in Sweden? Do you not know the laws about naming people who are involved in a case that has not yet been tried? Until a conviction is confirmed, the suspects and (usually) victims remain anonymous. It gets so tiring when people on The Local pop off about this sort of stuff when it has been explained over and over and over again, ad infinitum. The law is the and until it is changed, that is the way it is. In many instances, it makes perfect sense. Compare it to the US where an innocent person's life gets ruined the moment his or her name and face are splashed across the front page of all the papers. When the real perpetrator is found, the poor sot that got fingered first only gets a two-sentence apology on page 5. The falsely accused remain blighted the rest of their lives. I much prefer Sweden's approach, even though it sometimes seems ridiculous.

Oh, come on, Swedish law says no such thing!

Thes suspect is called Aboantar Elhoot (blue-eyed and blond, no doubt). If you Google his name you will get almost 800 hits, the vast majority about this character's criminal career, and just about all of them in Swedish, on Swedish websites.

"I don't care about Swedish justice" nicely sums up the attitude of half of Malmö's population, and explains most of what ir wrong in that city.

I am sure that they will find a "rough childhood" and "spanked by his daddy" theory to have him roam freely again blessed by "psychologists" and continue the way he announced it just to go "herregud! How could this happen?!" afterwards.

In case he IS guilty as charged, 50 years Gulag in siberia would serve such people a lot better.

'I don't care about Swedish justice' is something only a sharia follower would say. They believe their law comes from Allah and they smirk when reminded of secular laws since they matter little to them. This guy is a hero in his community and until Sweden finds out how to sort this problem, it will only escalate further.

your press is a joke...what are the idiots names?

I find it amazing that Swedish journalists can write so many words in an article without divulging any relevant information. After years of trying to get to grips with the Swedish press, I have simply stopped.

I have repeatedly said exactly that !

they are very talented at writing a whole page without saying anymore than the headline information.....endless paragraphs of nothing new/s!
