REFLECTIONS OF A TWITTER VIRGIN…. »
"I confess to having been reluctant to embrace Twitter. But I confess myself a bit of a convert. The great TV critic Clive James once said about “Dallas”, “I came to mock but I stayed to pray”. I wouldn’t go that far, but I have found my first two weeks on Twitter (@hmapauljohnston) both fun and informative. It’s been..." READ »

Thousands of unemployed getting to the Canary Islands on vacations, while their brand new Volvos are parked just by the villas. The borders opening widely for the orcs dug from the mud... Students who are allowed to talk on the phone in the middle of class and saying to their teachers to STFU.... The pensioners happily getting a steady increase in their pensions (after all, a stuga in fjällen, a summer house in Barcelona and a yacht are a heavy burden!)... 55 years olds who did not contribute to their company in the last 12 years and are still unfireable, whereas the students cannot get a job (well they are at least get to rest in the Canary, as said)..
Who is getting worse though? Aaa, those who actually work from morning to the evening! The business owners, whose businesses shut down due to the tax burden (that impacts their suppliers and customers also)... The temporary workers who will not have a chance for gaining some experience...
Of course! The yacht of 80 y/o Alvar and the 17 kids of Jihad Al Ahmed from Sudan need to be sponsored by those who live in small apartments with small kids, study loans and mortgage and who commute, cramped in public transportation for 2 hours every day. Wonderful choice to promote economy.
Give me your job, I would be glad to pay taxes for you to go on holidays abroad. Not all unemployed people get benefits and not all unemployed people want to actually be unemployed. Your reductionist, red neck, pseudo corporate shark mentality is as mediocre as one can get considering that at the end of the day you are here commenting on a mediocre website for expats and not deciding the destiny of the world hanging out with the bilderberg group. So hold your horses before spreading your hate full of stereotypes and preconceptions.
It's good to see the Social Democrats back in the game, to have any chance at all against the Moderates at the next election, they need to be well ahead at mid-term. Whether they actually deserve to win or not is, so far, a bit of a mystery. Mr Lofven has worked very hard at saying nothing at all as party leader. The electorate seem to like an invisible party leader, so far, but come the election, he is going to have to show his hand. For the sake of democracy, let's hope it's a good hand, and not the usual, twice-rejected socialist claptrap.
They mock what they don't understand. Uncle, in particular, you seem so burdened by having to work. There are so many who would trade with you. You do have a typical US outlook though. You are bitter, sad because you have to work and have a family to support and cry over things that have not actually, nor ever will, happen to you. Or, did you actually have a business that shut down? If so, was it due to the "tax burden" or because you were a bad businessman? Sweden's economy was, and is, doing quite well compared both to Europe and the US, despite the Moderates. A few years of the Moderates "fixing" things for their rich friends and things go down hill for everybody else. So many complainers and so many foolish people with foolish complaints about things that live only in their imagination.
"Give me your job, I would be glad to pay taxes for you to go on holidays abroad". Dear elixir. It seems that if I would actually do it, you would be back on the streets digging in garbage in no time. The simple reasoning is:
1.My sort of a job requires "pseudo corporate shark mentality" or in other words, believing that the MAJORITY of this country who will be dead before they reach pension age, should actually have a chance of survival, or in even simpler words - young families with two working parents shall not be tramped into the mud, because those who chose studying the history of arts in order to explore their inner core, apparently cannot find a job that fits their karma.
2.One at my job is required to be coherent, which is obviously not one of your myriad of virtues. (Example: "you are here commenting on a mediocre website for expats and not deciding the destiny of the world hanging out with the bilderberg group" who said that the website is for expats and what was the mishmash at the end of the sentence?)
3.One needs to be attentive to the read material. I described the beautiful FUTURE of the country with your beloved socialists. The description is based on the PAST, but in no way the PRESENT. It is obvious that CURRENTLY it is not profitable being unemployed, a situation that is about to change with the return of a party that was established in Sweden by Stalin (actual fact).
4.One needs to serve as an example for others. Example: "So hold your horses before spreading your hate full of stereotypes and preconceptions" in the same paragraph as your beautiful "redneck" part. So on one hand you shove me into a VERY specific group of people, while mocking my laughable attempts to pretend that I am something more than a mediocre mediocrity, commenting mediocre opinions on mediocre site. On the other hand, you are demanding that I would be more accepting and open minded. This is called - hypocrisy and therefore assures that you fail even at my mediocre job.
hmmmmm
