Zlatan Ibrahimovic buys Swedish 'hunting' island

Swedish football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has bought an island in Lake Mälaren west of Stockholm, according to a report in the Aftonbladet newspaper.

According to the newspaper, the AC Milan star has bought Davensö island in the centre of the lake, the third largest in Sweden.

Davensö has a few modest properties, but it is the extensive hunting grounds that are reported to have been of particular interest to the Swedish national team captain.

Ibrahimovic, who comes from the suburb of Rosengård in Malmö, is known to have developed a taste for hunting and detailed his hobby in his recently published autobiography "I am Zlatan Ibrahimovic".

The island property is reported to extend to 500 hectares and offers the chance of hunting deer and wild boar, as a well as fishing for perch and pike.

The purchase is the latest addition to Ibrahimovic's extensive property holdings, a portfolio which includes homes in New York, Milan, Vaxholm near Stockholm, and the ski resort of Åre.

He also owns a grand detached house in the plush Malmö neighbourhood of Fridhem, but this is known to be up for sale.

Despite spending several hundred million kronor on the house which he purchased for a Malmö record 25 million kronor ($3.5 million), Ibrahimovic and his partner Helena Seger have decided that their future lies overseas.

Zlatan's new island retreat has been formally acquired by his mother, according to the newspaper, and the tall Swede is expected to obtain possession of the property on July 1st, the same day that the Euro 2012 final will be played in Kiev.

The price paid for the property however remains unknown, while it is valued for tax purposes at 22 million kronor.

Not a nice man slaughtering and injuring animals because he has bought an island with his money that is home to wildlife . Why is it money always goes to people who destroy things instead of going to people who respect wildlife and do good things for the environment. (sad )

wow ... who gives a f*ck about him and all his money
02:20 June 10, 2012 by princeally
aww, good to hear that, this will be good for the king of soccer in sweden, the best swedish player of all the time, you deserve that boy

I know it's bad to judge a person by their face.

But Zlatan is as repellent a human being as hans ansikte suggests.
05:14 June 10, 2012 by blue2012
Overtime the deer and the boar have to be killed because these two animals are destructive to vegetation.

I can see a lot of jealousy on this forum. Leave Zlatan alone.
14:34 June 10, 2012 by towns
@ prince T

Since when does criticism automatically equal jealousy?
16:10 June 10, 2012 by EmployedProfessional
Would I be reading such criticisim if Zlatan's name was Svensson?

I wonder...discuss...

Remember,He's a Swede, worked against incredible odds and made most of his money outside of Sweden.

Am I a little jealous,hell yeah!

Am I proud of him, hell, hell, hell yeah!

He made his choices in life and I made mine just as everyone here did/does.

Does he have an attitude?

Without a doubt but that's part of sport tradition!

I believe Göran Persson hunts on HIS property. "Am I right or am I left," asked the BFG.
22:20 June 10, 2012 by occassional
Money can't buy him class...ever.
22:49 June 10, 2012 by EmployedProfessional
Then he will be in good company when he visits Stockholm.

At least he won't dress as frumpy-dumpy!
23:17 June 10, 2012 by prince T
@Towns here u go again. This is criticsm fueled out of jealousy. Or unfair one. I dont think we have ever heard of zlatan hunting. He has his money and he buy any house wherever he likes. If at all he hunts, so far he is not breaking the law. Attack the king and his family if u are looking for hunting. Take @ocassional's comment as anexample. Zlatan has class whether like it or not. But jealous pple cannot see it. @ towns, i hope u are convinced.
23:38 June 10, 2012 by Svensksmith
Who wouldn't be jealous? Somethings wrong in the world when a person can make so much money playing a child's game. Just wish I had his talent.
23:51 June 10, 2012 by EmployedProfessional
Well the child's game made him wealthy and some people here simply can't handle the fact that their lifes suck the big one.

Be happy with what you have or put some more effort into your game and stop complaining!
09:54 June 11, 2012 by towns
@ prince T

No I'm not convinced. If somebody doesn't like Zlatan, that's their prerogative (personally, I have nothing against him, why would I?). I'm just saying using jealousy as an excuse is a very weak argument, it's equivalent to someone telling a fjortis that Justin Bieber's "music" is terrible and the fjortis promptly goes off their mouth screaming "OMG ur just a hater and ur just jelus!" (Spelling mistakes are on purpose)

Anyway, I'm sure Zlatan appreciates your support.
