Convicted paedophile faces new charges

We know Swedish legal system is made up of pedophiles and rapist so this guy will get an additional 6 months prison term. Until people start taking actions into their own hands nothing will change.

Bear in mind the off-record comments by an expert in the field of sex criminals who said the rate of recidivism was about 85%... because they just hadn't caught the other 15% as yet. Obviously, there is a strong belief that some people are just wired wrong and are not going to or are unable to change or stop. So for the societies in the various countries of the world the question becomes "When should the protection of the great majority of citizens - primarily women and children - take precedence over the right to freedom of action enjoyed by human predators?"

More Mickey Mouse sentencing that can only be applauded by the criminal. The rest of the world is puzzled, and wonders why it has gone so badly wrong in Sweden.

Can't swedish journalists have more ethic and stop confusing "paedophilia" with child sexual abuse ? I'm affraid they're unlikely to become honnest because they also tend to confuse it with illegal sex with adolescents.

Contrarily to popular beliefs, paedophiles are not a group of criminals. A Paedophile is sb who feels a sexual attraction towards children (see dictionary) and it is of course not illegal. Thus if a paedophile drives too fast, robs a shop or has sexual contacts with a child, he will be convicted for the offense he has committed, not for paedophilia ! There is no such things as "paedophilia victims" or "paedphile pictures" !

I'm sorry, did I read it right.... 5 years?! My guess was that life sentence in prison would've been the appropiate solution, seeing as though this man will be commiting the same crimes as soon as he's released.... with these lame prison sentences, I believe any father would be in his right state of mind to take matters into their own hands!

It perfectly describes the American mentality in the way the USA tackle crime (you won't find a country with a higher rate of prisoners), especially sexual offences. They'd rather listen to the populism and extremist opinions of their Republican and Democrat politicians than take scientific facts into account. In the field of sex offences, the USA are a hopeless case.

By the way, the "off-record comment" to which you give so much credit is an outright lie. It has never been proved by research.

Life imprisonment for such crimes ?!! You must be a fascist (as many Americans are), or a Sweden Democrats supporter to say so !

First, no lives were destroyed, and don't tell me you're dumb enough not to make the difference between being traumatized and being "destroyed for the rest of your life" !!! Second, if he his in prison it is because he has been punished for crimes, not because the State declared him "dangerous" for the rest of his life. Anyway, there is no scientific evidence that he'll do it again. Even if that was 100% likely, it wouldn't be fair to lock him for life given that there are more serious crimes.

We are talking about the two extremes here. In the US, the incarceration industry is booming and they constantly seek people to lock up for decades (for petty crimes to) to create a false sense of security . While the correctional corporations get their profit, the politician would look good with their "touch (but stupid) on crime" image, while the prosecutor and elected judges get their political advancement by feeding the public blood lust. So it would seem like a win win situation , except that now the country has the highest (by far) incarceration rate in the world, and still have the highest violent crime rate and homicide rate in the developed world. How could it be? locking up all the criminals, and still not safe? Well , the US revenge system is certainly in no place to lecture others, because the tough sentencing experiment was a burden on tax payers , detrimental to society, and certainly, not giving people who can be rehabilitated under a good system a chance, perceiving them as "lost causes", how ironic it is, the land of the free does not believe in freedom, and the land of the opportunity does not believe in second chances.

While on the other hand, raping/molesters more than 11 young boys, as young as 1 year old, and film these actions, feeding on the suffering of these young boys. In my country he's probably looking at 15 to 20 years years in prison, or indefinite sentence with a minimum of 7 or 8 years served. A 5 year sentence, and being able to parole after 2.5 years ？That's a little bit too short even for me, and I believe in shorter sentences and quality rehabilitation, but even quality rehabilitation for such obsession takes time, doesn't it?

It's true that Sweden is at the other extreme but you mischaracterize this case:

- His sentence relate to 7 not 11 victims

- The article doesn't state some were as young as 1 year old

- He's eligible for parole from 2/3 of the sentence, not 2.5 years
