Shots fired in brawl at Gothenburg hospital

Published: 28 Jun 12 09:53 CET | Print version

Gunfire erupted in connection with a brawl that broke out at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg on Wednesday night, the second night in a row violence has flared up at the hospital.

Shots were fired around 8pm as a group of six people armed with weapons began fighting at the hospital.

"They are people from two families that are in a dispute. But I don't want to say more," police spokesperson Björ Blixter told the Expressen newspaper.

One man reportedly shot into a car and then disappeared from the scene in another vehicle.

No one was seriously injured in the melee, and police were able to recover a handgun and shell casings.

Police have also released a description of the suspected shooter in order to reduce the risk that someone might try to protect the man.

"We usually don't release a description, as that can affect witnesses' recollections of events. But in this case the public interest and our need to clear up the case are more important," Blixter told the TT news agency.

The suspected shooter has been described a bald male in his thirties between 1.6 and 1.65 metres tall. He was reportedly wearing dark clothes at the time of the shooting.

The gun fire sparked a massive police operation in Gothenburg late Wednesday night and twelve people were detained for questioning.

As of Thursday morning, four people were still being held, two of whom remained at the hospital for treatment for injuries caused by something other than gunfire.

Two were being held in connection to the brawl and shooting, and two for suspected weapons crimes uncovered in the course of police's response to the incident.

Four cars have also been impounded, one in connection with the suspected weapons crime. In addition, one of the three other cars had damage caused by gunfire.

Police remain uncertain as to what exactly caused Wednesday night's fight and subsequent shooting, but indicated there may be a connection to a brawl which erupted at Sahlgrenska's intensive care ward late Tuesday night involving around 30 people from two different families.

Following the Wednesday night shooting, police have launched a preliminary investigation into attempted murder.

"We're working hard and trying to get a clear picture of what happened," police spokesperson Stefan Gustafsson told Expressen.

"The suspected shooter has been described a bald male in his thirties between 1.6 and 1.65 metres tall. He was reportedly wearing dark clothes at the time of the shooting."

Great description! That really narrows it down! I think I just saw him in my living room, on the elevator, at my daughter's dagis, in the café, and on every street corner.

"involving around 30 people from two different families."

I know of no Swedish families that have 15 members living within close proximity to one another. What kind of people have 30 family members involved in a brawl?? Is this Appalachia?

"The suspected shooter has been described a bald male in his thirties between 1.6 and 1.65 metres tall. He was reportedly wearing dark clothes at the time of the shooting."

That's it? Isn't there any other characteristic that can help identify the suspect?

Sweden. 2012.

The suspect has two eyes, two ears, one nose and is bipedial. He has no other traits that might distinguish him from any other member of Swedish society. Nor do any of the other five people who had a gunfight in a hospital.

Except for ........... No, I'm sorry, I can't bring myself to say it.

The description they have specified is virtually useless but I understand that in either case it cannot be useful. One can die hair or beard, wear wig, beard, use contact lenses etc. One can basically look the opposite sex with some changes. The only little help is usually a full body picture including face. By the way, it would be police duty to find him not others. The thing is that they already know him and his family and probably friends so it shouldn't be a big deal to find him!

With Assange they gave his photo name and nationality on a no-charge non-crime?

Of course the purulence video is not allowed to show you that he has bug eyes, no chin, hooked nose,Adams apple like he swallowed a toilet ballcock, an elongated neck, otherwisedescribed as a "middle eastern appearance!

1.6 and 1.65 metres tall. That sounds like a dwarf if you ask me. People of that size tend to be criminals as they are fed up with the stress of living in a world where their face is just a centimetre from being blown away by a fart. I think they should look into the Albanian or French communities living in Sweden as those two groups don't tend to bring forth many tall people. :-)))))

typical immigration crime.
11:14 June 28, 2012 by TG22
People who are used to settle things at the point of an AK47 in their countries will keep doing it even when immigrating to a civilized place.

Some people regards immigration as good, some as bad, however immigration can be either. Immigration in fact is just neutral, immigrants make immigration good or bad.

Immigrants always bring with them what they are, actually this is exactly what the multicultural left claims to be the good about immigration. In some level we need to agree with them, Italians bringing wine, French cheese, Swiss chocolate, Japanese technology, are all examples of good immigrants who help to develop and build the country they immigrate to, they will bring what they have.

However what some group/culture/religion, unfortunately, have is only violence, and they will bring it with them, no matter what...

If you really want us to help you find the suspect, please include a better description... you know, like race, facial hair, etc... I'm tired of them not listing the race because they don't want to be racist. If you care to catch the guy, please do it!!!

typical immigration crime.

I totally agree

In Sweden unlimited immigration and multiculturalism must be seen as a success, even if it is not. In Sweden, unemployment amongst the immigrant population is so severe, the Prime Minister says if they were removed from the statistics Sweden would not have an unemployment problem at all. In Sweden, statistics now show there are far more people living here than there houses to accommodate them all comfortably; yet the immigration minister calls for - more immigrants. In Sweden, faceless "youths" and "young men" burn and rape and shoot their way through society with impunity; the police unable to issue proper descriptions to protect then public, for fear of revealing the inconvenient truth we all know, but cannot discuss. The law and the judges hopelessly unqualified to deal with a form of crime alien to traditional Swedish values. The failure of unrestricted immigration is so blatant from crime and other statistics, that only a fool could not see it - but only a fool may refer to it. Politicians, police and press are bound by a covenant of silence; to mention the inconvenient truth is racism of the worst kind.

Most elements of Swedish society seem happy to ignore the inconvenient truth. The Local hints at it in provocative headlines, the Swedish press say nothing, but everybody knows. The Swedish right is riding a wave of repulsion with the status quo, and increasing its vote with every election; close to the point of becoming a significant party with real power. The main stream parties are shifting their rhetoric to the right to recover their lost electorate. Even the Social Democrat leader recently said it is the duty of the unemployed to prepare for work; revolutionary stuff - for them.

In Sweden, the inconvenient truth is that it has made a terrible hash of absorbing hundreds of thousands of immigrants into a small population, and there is currently a terrible strain on Swedish society as it dodges bullets in hospitals, watches its cars burn, cares for its rape victims, and works its fingers to the bone to pay the immense taxes that prevent the whole charade from spinning out of control.

In Sweden unlimited immigration and multiculturalism is a success, and say otherwise makes you a racist.

RobinHood- You are absolutely correct. Great post.

If you compare the types of crimes being committed today (honor killings, police station bombings, the # and severity of rapes, etc.) with the types of crimes that routinely occurred before the 3rd world invasion, you would be shocked at how vastly Swedish society has changed for the worse. That is, if you didn't know anything about Sweden. As many of us know a lot about the country, we are not surprised at all.

Kurds are odd. Some of swedens most illustrious intellectuals are kurds. For example Evin Rubar who is something so rare as a swedish journalist who actually acts like a journalist rather than a propagandist, and with great courage and integrity to boot. And the most eloquant immigration critique of all, Tino Sanandaji (who left sweden for america). Intelligent, meticulous, inspired and honest. To name but two, but there are many more. And at the same time other kurds seem to excel at honour killings and this sort of mayhem described in the article. To an uninitiated observer it is a bit perplexing.

"Robin Hood" right on !!!!! Good God I was beginning to wonder if ANYONE reading The Local website had the guts and the basic common sense to SPEAK THE FREAKING TRUTH !!!! If all races were alike and all people equal then Sub- Saharan Africa and the Muslim nations would look LIKE SWEDEN AND THE REST OF WESTERN EUROPE !!!!! Instead of the nightmares that they obviously are. Now the only question is do the Sedes have any freaking common sense or are they going to commit SELF -SUICIDE by continuing to allow a bunch of barbarians thru the Gates of the Kingdom. For Gods sake read your Roman History you Swedes.
