This should read, " The couple, who HAVE three children,"
i would say, get lives (plural to indicate both of the preceding posters) but i suppose i must take some of that criticism as i have bothered to point out your failures in #knowitallism.
I'd like to think people who care about being literate and having good spelling and grammar skills would care :)

If the article was talking about a single person (him or her...hen does not count in English) then has would be appropriate!

As the self-appointed grammarian-in-chief, you might want to check out the meaning of affect vs. effect. (hint: it's a noun-verb thing).
