'I saw a lifeless woman's bloodied head': witness

Published: 18 Jul 12 18:04 CET | Print version

A woman who died after being found battered and bleeding on a street in Malmö on Wednesday morning is believed to have been fatally beaten by her husband, who is now being held on suspicion of murder.

The 33-year-old woman was discovered around 3.30am on Wednesday morning by passersby on a street in central Malmö after a man asked them for help lifting what witnesses quickly realized was a human body wrapped in a blanket.

"He had opened the door of the minivan and was trying to lift the body in. He was completely exhausted, he had no strength left. He also seemed gripped by panic," the witness told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

"The blanket slip off and I saw a lifeless woman's bloodied head...she didn't move or make a sound.

The witness and his companions immediately alerted police and then surrounded the 42-year-old man's vehicle in order to prevent him from leaving the scene.

"It was an accident, it was an accident," the man said as he leaned on the minivan, according to witnesses.

Police and emergency services arrived shortly thereafter and the woman was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, officers found the 42-year-old in the stairwell of the apartment building where the couple lived and arrested him on suspicion of murder, with an alternative charge of manslaughter.

According to Aftonbladet, the 33-year-old victim had filed for a divorce from her husband a few weeks ago, but recently withdrew the petition by sending a letter to the district court in Malmö.

Police are conducting a forensic investigation of the couple's apartment, believed to be the scene of the fatal attack, but are releasing few details about the case pending notification of the woman's relatives.

The 42-year-old man has no prior criminal convictions and police had no indications of any known threats against the woman. In addition, the man is father to four of the woman's five children, Aftonbladet reports.

The perp is called Abed Youssefi, a known violent criminal. The only reason he has no criminal convictions is that he somehow managed to get away with stabbing a relative.

It is shocking how many blue-eyed and blond homicidal maniacs are to be found in Sweden these days.

"he somehow managed to get away with stabbing a relative"

Let me guess.... Swedes are cowards who are afraid to confront evil.

Earlier today, The Local described victims of an alleged serial killer in Malmö as persons "of immigrant origin". But in the alleged crime referred to above, the assailant and victim's ethnicity is now irrelevent. Why?

Clearly, something is dragging Malmös crime statistics towards levels of depavity never seen before in Sweden. Whatever the problem is, it is important for Malmö it is identified and quickly remedied. We need much more information about the defendant and the victim to help us prevent this sort of thing happening again.

Please give us a more detailed report The Local.

@Mafketis

It should not be necessary for posters on these forums (#1) to have to operate their own DIY news gathering service. Johan has found out for himself the name of the accused, and that he has previous history of stabbing his relatives. Whilst his name, may or may not, be priviliged information at this stage, his ethnicity and propensity for stabbing his relatives is important information which The Local either did not know, or neglected to tell us. Either way, it is pretty shabby journalism.

Interestingly, Shard (#3) feels this vital information is the stuff of Breivik. Perhaps he/she might explain why facts about an alleged criminal's ethnicity and previous knife attacks on his relatives should not be shared with the public.
09:38 July 19, 2012 by johan rebel
The suspect's name is not privileged information, it is publicly available. That almost all media choose not to publish such details is another matter.

As for tarnishing everyone who simply states the facts with the Breivik brush, well, that's typical of the desperate tactics of the looney left.

Sweden has experienced a surge in violent crime, partly because of an influx of people from cultures where women are treated as trash or worse, and where violence is an accepted way of settling disputes and altercations, as well as upholding family, tribe or clan "honor". This is actually a serious issue, which needs to be addressed with urgency. Sweeping it under the carpet won't solve anything.

I have, by the way, nothing against law-abiding and hard-working immigrants. Heck, I'm an immigrant myself.

RobinHood: "Either way, it is pretty shabby journalism."

I'd say it's more intentional propoganda, the correlation:

more Middle-Easterns in a western environment = more violent crime there

is pretty uncontroversial statistically*, but it's one that the powers that be in Europe are desperate for the indigenous population to not notice, hence deliberate distortion.

*as always I welcome counterexamples....

@mafketis: "Middle-Easterns in a western environment = more violent crime there"

This can be cured by:

1. Restricting immigration

2. Deporting immigrant criminals

3. Long prison terms for perpetrators, then deportation.

4. Immediate and reaction by local vigilant groups

These innuendoes against persons of foreign extraction and a certain religious belief are clearly aimed at the ladies and gentlemen of the Religion of Peace. This is appalling. I am certain you are all suffering from a particularly common irrational phobia.

It is clear all of these attacks are the work the Swedish Girl Guides and certain extremist members of the Swedish Tomato Growers Association. Please cure yourselves of this religious phobia and let us hear no more about these matters.

The Swedish government pushed on George Bush to release a Swedish national from Gitmo. The Local reported that he was just an innocent Muslim going to innocent Muslim meetings in Sweden.

He has just murdered Israeli nationals in Bulgaria. I want to than the Swedish government for murdering more Jews. I am aware of the endemic anti-semitism in Sweden. it is one of the reasons I thank G-d that I am an American living in Minnesota. I get to look at the beautiful Swedish-American girls here without the disgusting anti-semitism of Sweden. One quarter plus of all Nobel prizes, by the way, have been won by Jews, who comprise 13 million people. How many Nobels have the Islamists, whom you support, won in comparison?
