A Swedish couple has been told that they will not face charges of sexual molestation after having had sexual intercourse in the broad daylight near a popular family swimming spot in Säffle in central Sweden on Wednesday.

The belated arrival of the Swedish summer sun on Wednesday had brought the crowds out in force to a popular swimming jetty on Lake Vänern.

Apparently overcome by the moment, one couple moved on from innocent kissing and cuddling to full intercourse in plain view of groups of families with children.

The families couldn’t help but witness the events unfolding before their eyes, and one of the parents felt compelled to act and called the police.

According to the TT news agency, the parent said that the call had to be made in order to protect the children from the sight of the copulating couple.

A police unit was dispatched to the location and when they arrived the couple had completed their exertions.

According to the police the lovers were somewhat sheepish and expressed some understanding for the complaints from the innocent bystanders.

The police at first considered whether the couple could face charges of sexual molestation, with their audience identified as the victims in the case, but the police have decided to close the investigation.

Sexual molestation (sexuellt ofredande) is a crime under Swedish law and can for example apply to flashing or groping, as a well sex chat with minors.

Ok, please clarify here one thing. As I am new in STOCKHOLM (previously in a very small city of sweden), you are allowed to walk nude. swim nude.... but you are not allowed to have sex ? Or am i mistaken somewhere ?

I mean, no seriously I think I am wrong somewhere. Because as far as I remember, year ago there was a news item where some people complained for people swimming naked, and the swimming pool hall management didnt do anything about it. And many posters here were complaining, if people are bothered for such rules then dont go to the swiming pool.

So it is allowed in that case? :S seriously I think kids will not do anything if they find some other USE of the thing hanging in the front! :S

"The police have decided to close the investigation."

Good job officers, next time please call me to help you with such investigations!

I still wonder what kind of questions are asked ?

"Can you please sir, describe me which position they applied"

"Ma'am , according to your experience, how hard was it for the girl ... give me a number from scale 1 to 10, where 1 is something barely itchy and 10 is Ultimate Hardcore"

Did the police question them about whether they had been listening to music immediately before the tryst? Perhaps they got an irresistible impulse after listening to The Beatles sing "Why Don't We Do It in the Road"

@muscle (#4)

Yes, people are allowed to swim nude, but that does not mean they are trying to have sex with whoever comes along. The problem is when people react to nudity the way you are reacting to it, by sexualizing it. Don't look at nude bathers (and especially nude children at the beach) as horny people wanting sex. See them for what they are: people enjoying the freedom of their natural state under the sun and sky. Nudity has nothing to do with sexuality except when distorted minds cannot disconnect the two.

"Victims", what a joke, why didn't they just ask the couple to move somewhere where there weren't kids, why make it a police issue?

You Swedes like to pretend to be liberal, but you're all just a bunch of hypocrites.

I would prefer that people pee, crap and hump in private.

Next time just walk right up to the couple and say "go get a room"!!! Easy peasy!!!

Having been confused about 'rape' laws in Sweden, following the Assange case, I now find I'm equally confused about 'molestation'.

How can a couple having consensual sex be seen to be 'molesting' third parties? I can understand laws about 'public indecency' but does

'molestation' have some special esoteric meaning in Swedish?

there is a time and a place for everything. In public and in front of families is not the place for sex. Exhibitionist behaviour.

they should have thought many times to go for sexual intercourse .Being so excited for it. They should have find a place which is out of children's sight .

Look at the first sentence of the article: "in the broad daylight". The expression is "in broad daylight". I wish the local would give me a job; I am actually English.
18:07 July 28, 2012 by cogito
"I am actually English."

As is the writer of the sentence. So, simply being English would hardly qualify you.

I think the police should have charged them. I am no prude and there is a time and place for everything. The couple having sex in view of other adults and children were not only stupid and insensitive but also their having sex especially in front of children was outrageous and indecent. Now I wonder what would have happened if there instead 2 women or 2 men havivg sex in public not to mention a threesome.

Oh yes I am a hot blooded Aussie male but if I was to have sex with my girlfriend or with 2 other women I would do it discreetly in a jungle on a deserted beach etc. Shame on those you who have not though this couple should be at least chatised for their behaviou

Ciao,

Good grief! They should have been charged for public lewdness! There is a time and a place for everything. Having sex in front of children and in a public place is hardly appropriate.

completed their exertions ? Were they fat people ?
