'It was an accident': teenage murder suspect

Published: 9 Aug 12 16:25 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/42520/20120809/

The 18-year-old suspected of having shot a 17-year-old girl dead in Sollentuna on Monday has been remanded into custody on the suspicion of murder and aggravated weapons crimes.

During the remand hearing the 18-year-old denied the murder allegation against him but admitted to having been in possession of the gun. According to his defence lawyer, Sargon De Basso, the shooting was an accident.

“It was an accidental shot,” De Basso told news agency TT.

The lawyer claims that the 18-year-old was showing his gun off to the 17-year-old girl who was his girlfriend.

“When they were looking at the weapon a shot fired from it. It had catastrophic consequences and it is a terrible tragedy,” De Basso said.

The lawyer was unwilling to disclose where the 18-year-old had acquired the gun and what he was going to use it for.

The incident occurred just after 1pm on Monday in a Sollentuna flat. It was reportedly the 18-year-old who called the emergency services after the girl was shot.

“My client did everything in his power to save the girl’s life. He tried to stop the bleeding. He is in terrible distress at the moment,” De Basso said.

According to his defence lawyer, the teenager’s version of events is credible. At the same time he is not surprised that the court decided to remand him into custody.

”The investigation will show that the 18-year-old’s version of events is what happened,” he said to TT.

No other witnesses available to present an opposing view. Like the 'stand your ground' law in Florida. Kill anyone you want, and then tell others that the person you murdered was threatening to harm you.

The accident makes no sense. Why the hell was he pointing a loaded gun at her?

If say the girl was shot because she had a new boyfriend, I hope this boyfriend will have the courage to step forward and identify himself, and inform authorities that jealousy may have been a motive for murder, or 'honour' or disobedience related reasons, etc..

But then again nothing about the Swedish legal system's so-called punishment system would inspire anyone to come forward, particularly to speak out against a so-called sub-adult murderer (a wonderful group of murderous youths, particularly popular in gangs, who fall in the 21 or younger category, who can kill with only trivial consequences, if they are ever caught, and then leave prison to deal with whoever put them there, in whatever manner they choose).
20:01 August 9, 2012 by muscle
oh my god! He should be imprisoned for such careless attitude towards handling of the weapon. He pointed the weapon towards a person, what the hell was he thinking!
20:27 August 9, 2012 by prince T
How can it be an accident when in fact it was several shots. He killed her on purpose
20:35 August 9, 2012 by GLO
Why would any adult point a loaded gun toward a person. Even a dumb aS# knows a gun will not hurt anyone unless you point and shoot, two actions you have to do to fire a gun and hurt someone.....Even a dumb As# knows !!!!!
20:58 August 9, 2012 by Rishonim
This is Sweden, the land with the most idiotic legal system ever. This punk will walk away like most criminals in Sweden do.
21:04 August 9, 2012 by wxman
Hmmm, let's apply a little Sherlock Holmes here, shall we? I see the defendant is covered up so as not to reveal any particulars regarding his identity, and I see his defense lawyer. Yep, I think I have this one figured out, do you agree Dr. Watson?
22:02 August 9, 2012 by Swedish Cat
I think you are right sherlock...
22:19 August 9, 2012 by voiceofreason
I suggest that he should be accidentally shot at (TWICE) and then discharged and acquited
22:57 August 9, 2012 by ctinej
Hmmm, if this was an immigrant, he would have "accidentally buried her to the neck and accidentally stoned her to death.

I hope the advertisers in this paper realize that many of us go to other publications (and view their advertisements) in order to find out where this creep came from and what his name is.

thanks goodness the little xenophobic detectives are little more than fleas. Their innuendo does nothing to hide their Breivikesque whinings, and like that neo-nazi loony tune, I'm sure they'll be seeing white rooms soon enough.

The briefest of searches indicates this obnoxious little shooter comes from a long line of natives. let's hope the runt gets what he deserves though, whatever his nationality.

Talking of innuendo, there is often debate over Sherlock and Watson being the closest housemates. Aha, the penny drops!
03:05 August 10, 2012 by HenryPollard
Sherlock above is very much on the right trail.

A thorough examination of Facebook data carried out on a certain popular Swedish forum has confirmed your suspicions.

@Shard:

You criticise so-called 'xenophobia' but use a taunt regarding homosexuality to defame the above posters. How curious....
06:13 August 10, 2012 by prince T
@sherlock , swedish car, pollard and your group of racist, i want to say you are so wrong

. i wish i could paste the photograph of where the guy is made to lie on the ground with his hands handcuffed to the back.
08:11 August 10, 2012 by shard
pollocks, you are a liar. Indeed the brother (as discovered on the forum you wrote of) of the perp calls himself a "proud swede" on his facebook page, and each and every one of the people with his family name in sollentuna, and indeed Sweden, have very traditional Swedish names.

But you don't care about the facts, or truth, do you?

What are you afraid of?

Don't like innuendo up your alley? Curious indeed...
11:43 August 10, 2012 by jostein
@shard

A****** O'''''' L*''' P**** is pretty friggin far from a swedish name. Except for the first name but that is used in all of europe and south america as well.
12:05 August 10, 2012 by rfmann
What's all this guessing about? Father from El Salvador, Swedish citizen, living in El Salvador. Mother from Chile, living in Sweden. No big mystery, but what does this have to do with anything?

On the flipside --- is it confirmed that there have been multiple shots? Now *that* would be an interesting piece of information...
12:43 August 10, 2012 by Åskar
So little information, so many opinions.
14:18 August 10, 2012 by prince T
Rfmann was right. But he is still swedish to me. UK made gold out Farah, this is the best sweden can make of immigrant children. We shoul be proud of our achievements. That does not mean i support the crime. Why was he allowed to have a gun wen he was already under investigation.
14:45 August 10, 2012 by ann2
SvD reports that more than one shot was hear by neighbors, for what it's worth.
15:21 August 10, 2012 by Migga
@ prince T

Sweden didn`t make this perpetrator a criminal, he did so himself. Nor does Sweden make anyone else, immigrant or not, a criminal. You put the blame on society and make excuses for the one who is responsible. You ignore personal responsibility and free will so you can go on with your bashing. He made his choice, no one forced him.
15:27 August 10, 2012 by tadchem
It was Ignorance that killed the girl.

Had the boy known how to handle guns safely, the accident would not have happened.

The Law of Natural Selection is sometimes brutally enforced - stupidity can be fatal.
15:34 August 10, 2012 by HenryPollard
@Shard

You're calling me a liar for stating that a guy of 100% Latino origin is not an ethnic Swede. Wow. Ok, try to explain that one to me, I'll go get some popcorn.

Also, if you are so offended by xenophobia then you shouldn't be using anti-homosexual innuendo against those you disagree with. It just gives your posts a hearty stench of hypocrisy.

@ Prince T

Yes, absolutely! The blattor in Sweden should be so proud of their achievements. They brought a thriving class of violent crime to a country that just a few decades ago had next to none (Relative to any other nation on Earth). They should be so proud!
19:04 August 10, 2012 by Spuds MacKenzie
@Prince T - How is someone who has no Swedish DNA in them "Swedish" just because they were born here? If a pig is born in a stable does that make it a horse?!
19:37 August 10, 2012 by prince T
His behaviour has nothing to do with offspring. Swedish pple kill girlfriends too. I think he is a product of bad marriage. I cannot imagine the 18 yr old child of my friend already involved in gun crime from 17.

@spud You are a product of environment and parental upbringing. Obama can never be a Kenyan, though it is originn. He was born and raised in USA. @ spud iif u want to spread a lie make sure it is i tellingent one.

@henry. The crime was developed in sweden. Elsavor is not known for terrorism at neither is chile. Sweden is the problem. Sweden has no culture anymore. Christian values is gone. The scholl has become dangerous for our children. They only copy america. U hear i wanna wanna all the time.
20:42 August 10, 2012 by rfmann
Whoa --- not sure how growing up in Sweden or being "ethnically Swedish" modulates someone's propensity to shoot a girlfriend, but it sure is no protection against rampant bigotry.

@spuds: Lovely animal kingdom 'analogy', it's a time-honored standby of folks like yourself, keep at it. The classical tradition, of course, works with insects or, if it has to be mammals, rodents, but this is Sweden, so your choice of livestock is both understandable and a good start.
21:23 August 10, 2012 by Spuds MacKenzie
@Prince T - the fact remains that non-Swedes commit the overwhelming majority of violent crimes in Sweden.
