Two remanded after gruesome puppy torture

Two dog owners have been remanded in custody on the suspicion of torturing two puppy dogs to death, in what is believed to have been an attempt for an insurance payout.

A 32-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were remanded on Sunday on the suspicion of aggravated animal cruelty.

It is believed that they killed two dogs, one of which was a 10-week-old American Staffordshire Terrier, which was found dead and dismembered after the pair initially had reported it stolen.

The puppy’s body was discovered in the middle of June in Tumba, south of Stockholm.

The dog owners are also believed to have been responsible for the death of a 6-month-old dog of the same breed, which was found dead in May in a wooded area of Skärholmen.

“It had very severe internal injuries and had been subjected to very heavy violence,” said prosecutor Jakob Holmberg to the Dagens Nyheter newspaper.

The two are also suspected of fraud after attempting to claim an insurance payout for one of the dogs from their insurance company.

The man and woman are also suspected of aggravated drug offences.

Police have launched an investigation, and are keen to get in contact with witnesses, as well as the breeder responsible for selling the puppies to the pair.

So the police goes through tremendous effort to arrest people who are only suspected of f'ing animal abuse but real matters such as people assault, burglaries and robberies are left unsolved. Nice job Sweden.

^ The article didn't indicate that the police went to tremendous effort to make the arrests. Animal abuse is a legitimate and sadistic crime, so your criticism of the police for making arrests over the incident is unwarranted and makes you out to be a bored tw*t who just wants to write something on the internet for the sake of it. If you have such a big problem with Sweden and the way we do things then leave the country.

It is just possible that the crimes you list as being 'unsolved' were more dependent on public co-operation than the solving of this crime has been.

In any event, I llok forward to your energised input as a good citizen in helping to solve crimes in your area. You clearly seem to know how it's done.

#2 - Good arguments there eh? You seem sufficiently brainwashed with the idea that the Swedish way of things is the only and right way of doing them and that any criticism on it is bad. Unfortunately for you not everyone agrees.

#3 - As a good citizen I go by my business without committing crimes. However, it should be obvious that not wasting police resources on such matter would be one step into solving or preventing additional crimes. I'm fine with animal abuse being a crime, I just don't like to actually see police resources being spend on them when more pressing matters are unattended.

Perhaps if these officers where working on real cases any of the numerous news reports on here recently of robberies with automatic weapons and organized teams could have been solved and a barrier for those wanting to do the same be thrown up. Now we might have prevented another puppy from being tortured but might see another bank getting robbed and some criminals opening fire in public again. I take it your priorities are with the puppies.

Apparently you are not bothered by gratuitous cruelty. At last report, serial killers, among others, begin their careers torturing defenseless animals. Apparently, you also condone getting a little extra drug money by torturing defenseless animals to death. Or is it a religious thing? The police are enforcing the law. Give them a break when they finally get something right. Your priorities may lie with torturing animals but many of the rest of us are quite happy to see this pair nabbed.

I don't consider it a waste of police time to put these two scums away.

Murder is murder.

Bravo to the police for including this investigation as they multi-task..

92% of the worst criminals admitted to torturing animals, so I'm glad to hear this was properly investigated by the Police. Cruelty & murder against an innocent & helpless creatures (human or animal) is usually a precursor to much more horrendous crimes, so its necessary they are stopped as soon as possible & prosecuted vigorously.
