Teddy-drop team invites Lukashenko to Sweden

Published: 14 Aug 12 14:59 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/42608/20120814/

The founders of the Swedish PR firm which dropped pro-free speech teddy bears over Belarus have written another open letter to President Alexander Lukashenko, declining his offer of a meeting in Minsk, and instead inviting him to their house in Skåne, southern Sweden.

The letter comes in response to a missive, which members of the PR firm received on Saturday, asking them to appear before the KGB in Minsk.

"You are to appear before the Department of Investigation of the KGB for participating in investigative actions (interrogation) within 10 days. You have to inform KGB on the time of your arrival," the letters from Belarus said.

They were also cautioned that if they decline, they risk being penalized "by a fine or by correctional work for up to two years, or imprisonment for up to six months", according to the letter.

“The way it stood, we would have been going to a Minsk prison as suspects with no neutral ground. But we thought - if he’s so interested, he can come here,” Studio Total founder Per Cromwell told The Local on Tuesday.

Studio Total, the PR company that organized and carried out the stunt in July, demanded in their response that the political prisoners of the KGB be released, adding that as “flattering as it is for a small advertising agency to get this kind of attention from a real live dictator… there are some details we need to discuss”.

FOR THE FULL LETTER TO LUKASHENKO CLICK HERE.

It continues by picking fault with the President’s summons notice, taking issue with the condition that the team was asked to come to Minsk within ten days or face two years correctional work.

It also criticizes the deportation of the Swedish ambassador in what they refer to as “sudden spat of bad temper” by Lukashenko.

The letter finishes with the offer of an all-expenses paid trip for the president to Skåne, southern Sweden, where the team will explain “everything you want to know on how to cheat your expensive air defence systems”.

The offer comes with one condition:

“Our only demand is that you behave as politely as you can (no threats of torture and the likes) and that you release all the political prisoners in Belarus.”

However, company founder Cromwell is unsure if the team will even receive a response from the Belarusian president.

“We realize there is a very small probability that he will come, but our intentions are clear – we want the prisoners released. We have spoken to media from all over the world, and one thing we have succeeded in is drawing attention to the situation in Belarus,” he told The Local.

“If our work keeps getting attention, then the pressure remains high. We’ve seen that he has become even more irrational, trying to punish Lithuania because their airfield was involved, for example.”

“If we can keep him occupied because he is mad chasing after flying teddy bears, then there is simply more opportunity in general for the people of Belarus. Anything that makes Lukashenko lose face is welcome.”

As for the next move, Cromwell explains that the team is taking a step back from the current “turbulence” and is looking forward to hearing a response from Minsk.

“We’re not sure if we’ll hear from him after his ten-day summon runs out, or whether he will respond directly to our letter, but either way, we’re looking forward to it,” he told The Local.

“We’ve made our move – now we’re waiting to see theirs.”

This is Belarus calling.

Our Dear Leader the President has asked me to remind readers of the capitalist mouthpiece The Local, that he is currently banned from visiting countries within the EU since he, quite correctly, imprisoned the entire membership of the opposition parties for tax evasion and other serious offences yet to be imagined by Igor the secret policeman.

In any event, our Dear Leader is also the head of the Belarussian Olympic committee and will be very busy over the next few weeks explaining why gold medal winning shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk is the only athlete in the London Olympics to have her medal taken away after testing positive for drugs. This is, of course, a conspiracy between Sweden and the International Olympic Commitee, and the KGB has summoned Jacques Rogge to Minsk within the next ten days, to help Igor with his enquiries.

Transmission over.

And they will invite him to eat meat balls and pitti pana. Good Lord! Lukashenko might be crazy, but he is cetainly not stupid.

He would be also try to reveal Belarrusian secrets for having more olympic medals than Sweden.
20:10 August 14, 2012 by Kevin Harris
Er Ouija, after yesterday having one third of its 2012 gold medals struck off the olympic record for cheating, the only country in the world to suffer that disgrace this olympics, I really don't think Lukashenko will be mentioning olympic medals to anyone at the moment.

The same thing happened at the 2008 olympics too. You suggest Lukashenko might be crazy, but he is certainly not stupid. I suggest that when it comes to sending doped up Bellarussian athletes to cheat at the Olympic games and thereby disgracing his country, he is indeed stupid too.

As far as I am aware, no Swedish athletes have been booted out of the olympic games for cheating this year. Perhaps next time the Swedes test the Belarussian air defences, they should drop drug testing kits as well as teddy bears.

OMG! Alexander Lukashenko must be trembling in his boots as much as the leftists in Europe who heard that police forces in various EU countries during certain riot situations with prior requested, filed and approved requests could talk sternly to them. -Paul

What are you talking about. Belarus lost 1 of the 3 Golden Medals, but it still has 12 in total (2 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze) against 8 of Sweden (1 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze)

Belarus ended in place 26 and Sweden in place 37.

No country in the world, not even the untouchable honest, honest Sweden, sends doped athletes to compete. And perhaps the next time you make what it appears to be a "sarcastic" comment, you think it over twice before submitting it.

Lukashenko is laughing and laughing and laughing. Swedes coud not be more stupids if they really believe that a figure like Lukashenko (it does not matter how much of a dictator he is) would accept that remarkable stupid invitation.

barack and roll is damn right with his comment, and I agree 100 percent with Vitas.

So please Keving, in spite of the fact that you can write ironically, but I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong

Do not question. Greetings from Belarus. The most popular proposal in Belarus - send a plane to Sweden with plush rabbits on board. Over the KGB, everyone laughs.

@ OUIJA

i dont think anyone is expecting Lukashenko to come to sweden, let me explain to you, it was just about having a little laugh at him.. publicly.

I am sure he is laughing his head off right now, he probably has a great sense of humour and self depreciation as the clown he is now since he got pranked twice..

I suggest you read that open letter, its hilarious.

@ Ouija

You dimwit

One third of three gold medals is one.

I agree, "No country in the world, not even the untouchable honest, honest Sweden, sends doped athletes to compete." No country except Belarus, who sent a doped up shot putter in 2012, and a doped up hammer thrower in 2004.

When it comes to cheating at the Olympics, there's always one; and it's always Belarus.

@Playmobil

Lukashenko can not come to Sweden. He is banned from travelling anywhere within the EU.

1.- I could never be a dimwit, because I am neither your brother nor your father. Do not cry foul if I retaliate.

2.- If you do your homework correctly, you will find out that there were more than 107 athletes banned from participating in London 2012, All for doping reasons. And all from Belarus. Yes, but of course. Why do you not check the list of Swedish athletes banned from sports for having a spoon of Absolut Voda

3.-You act as though your stupidity is a virtue

4.-Wow, you're even dumber than I thought.

Be happy, go lucky

Oh, I forgot that I wish you no harm, but it would have been much better if you had never lived.

I really want to invite the teddy bear team to drop some bears on Saudi Arabia specially on Mecca or Riyadh. Try please, is it worse the Bielorussian authoritarian goverment than the Saudi Arabian dictatorship???

Belarus KGB tries to get the organizers of the "Teddy Troopers" by Interpol.

On Belarusian forums is laughter. Here are some:

- Pull-pull - pull can not (there is a saying).

- And for good they decided to move things? With the bears? And they scared? And from the fear they have to throw things? Like, get away lightly? A good version.

- Inventories popcorn, look forward to continuing the comedy ....

- Yeah. Will be given after Bakiyev. And Lukashenka, who will start looking at the Hague.

Oh, my GOD, you must have some sort of ADHD. You actually CONTINUE with the Olympic medals argument.

1) It is a pile of feces that is unrelated to success. As YOU YOURSELF argued against YOURSELF, Belorussians can buy less goods that the swedes, in spite of their low prices.

2) North Korea got MORE medals than Belarus. What does it mean? WHAT? Did you hear the new law in N. Korea that forbids women in skirts to ride a bicycle? Did you hear that they have 10% of their population in concentration camps? What the hell are you sitting here and banging on about?

3) Not only your argumentation is as absolutely unrelated to the topic when you invent some theoretical jealousy of "success" of Belarus vs Sweden, you open a mexican market every time you are shoved with your face into the pile that you spam these forums with. Your criticism of others' "mamas" and your infantile retorts "I am not your father" that you are trying to present as successful "retaliation" bring one to doubts in regards to your either age, or mental development.

I even get a strange feeling arguing with you, since it feels a bit like mocking a Down syndrome affected kid. Dirty and unfair.

Did you actually came out with what you wrote, or you have now delirium tremens. Go back to your flying business and start flying a kite. You ar simply hopeless. You, as Chinese RICE, has not even aswered my very simple question. Let us see if you have something in your head to do it:

Is Sweden entitled or not to petetrate illegally the areial space of Belarus, throw 800 Teddy Bears from a Helicopter with a message against the government, all with the assistnce of the Swedish embassy in Minsk?

All of your arguments and excuses seem to estrategic logistical and sistematic excuses for not answering in a dinamic and directional way a very balanced question.

And my infantile retorts are far much better than the 1000 posters that under your signature have made this place dirtier and dirtier, with some exceptions of the rule.

I do not know where do you come from, but you are certainly not a Swede. They are a little bit less scummier than you.
19:57 August 16, 2012 by Uncle
OUIJA

"Is Sweden entitled or not to petetrate illegally the areial space of Belarus"

FIRST time you ask this question! FIRST.

The answer is no. It neither is entitled to bomb Mexico with atomic bomb, it is not entitled to legalize slave trade and not to announce rape as an allowed hobby. It has neither done all of the above, but it does not matter to you, does it? Otherwise, the legal suit will be against the STATE of Sweden, or a war would be declared.

But this was a PRIVATE organization that wants to make a dictatorship (like one that you hate - Saudi Arabia) a BETTER place. Now I will ask you.

Should Sweden give up citizens to a regime that has a proven record of torture, unlawful imprisonment and political persecution? You are welcome to answer without reference to my mama, which may be difficult in your fresh age.

"And my infantile retorts are far much better than the 1000 posters that under your signature have made this place dirtier and dirtier" aaaand another infantile reaction. Cannot help it eh?

"I do not know where do you come from, but you are certainly not a Swede. " aaand again you argue with YOURSELF, because previously I seemed to be a "typical Swede"

The "other" self is getting into the argument again, does he? Medicaaaation time, dear!
09:16 August 17, 2012 by robban70226
There is too much diversion about teddy bears,

That id not the issue at stake here, doesn't matter if the illegal violation of air space happened for teddy bears, candy, condoms, cocaine, or grenades. The principle is the same The Study One and its founders keep trying to divert the issue to avoid taking responsibility of their actions.
10:52 August 17, 2012 by OUIJA
# Uncle 21.

You are pathetic. I did mention the problem in many threads without actually making a question, like I did in this one. But your empty

head needs a question to understand the wrongdoings of Sweden.

Now, you have never answered if you really meant what you wrote that Mexico should jail all the Mexicans trying to cross the boarder to the USA. Because if you did mean it, that is one of the many reasons no one can discuss with you anything. You have been wrong many times but you do not accept being wrong.

19:57 August 16, 2012 by Uncle

She - Belarusian ideological worker. Do you still do not understand this? I smell the hand of a mile to my nose.

10:52 August 17, 2012 by OUIJA.

Any of are caught the illegal migrants, trying to make the way in EU, doesn't sit in prisons of Belarus. All of them are deported from Belarus. And harm from them bigger that from bears paratroopers. These two pilots should be expelled too from Belarus and to make nevezdny. But a counter that such rule operates in Belarus: "The law that a shaft - both turned, and left".

Photographed the bear - sat in the KGB prison without trial. Sitting two.

Photographed with a bear - a fine of $ 350 per unsolved picket. The journalist of "Komsomolskaya Pravda" (Russia) fined as follows.

One-armed people clap defiantly, deaf-and-dumb people swear obscenely...

Therefore it is better to judge them in Sweden. It is possible. Laws of Sweden allow the such. And inspectors of KGB let to them go. "Hay doesn't go to a cow".

Let them go to the Swedish Embassy for a visa. And wait until there will be the ambassador.
