Police arrest scantily clad Swede on moped

A man from western Sweden, found driving around on a moped wearing only his underwear, has been detained by police who suspect he may have been inebriated.

Early on Wednesday morning, police were alerted that an individual had been spotted, driving around on a moped in a state of undress, according to local paper Göteborgsposten.

Several people in the Svartedala district of Gothenburg, on the west coast of Sweden, had reported seeing a man on some form of low powered motorcycle, driving around in the neighbourhood clad only in his underwear and acting as if he was under the influence.

According to several witness statements, the man had been approaching passers-by anxiously asking them whether they knew the whereabouts of his girlfriend, the paper reported.

When police arrived in the area, they didn’t see a trace of the vehicle the man had allegedly been operating but after an extensive search of the area they heard noises from a shrubbery, where the man was subsequently found.

According to the paper, officers never managed to locate the missing vehicle but the inebriated moped driver was taken into the station under suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
