Man re-arrested for Dalarna murder mystery

A 36-year-old man has been remanded into custody, suspected of murdering a woman who was found dead in a burnt-out apartment in central Sweden in 2006.

However, after a witness has come forward stating that he saw the man on the night of the murder, the suspect was arrested again on Monday for the probable cause of murder.
“We have worked tirelessly throughout all these years. After several appeals to the public for information, a witness showed up who hadn’t thought that his information was relevant at first,” said prosecutor Per-Göran Persson to the TT news agency.
The 31-year-old victim, Pernilla Theorin, had been at a bachelorette party with friends at an Avesta eatery on Saturday, August 12th, 2006.
She was found dead in her burnt out apartment on Sunday morning, with police suspecting a connection between the fire and the death, and launching an investigation into murder.
“This was one of the pieces of the puzzle that we needed, strengthening the suspicions. What he [the witness] has observed makes his information of high interest to us,” Persson said.
The murder suspect, who was previously sentenced to prison in Skövde for assaulting a woman in 2008, still denies his involvement in the crime after a week of interrogations.
“But we’re not there yet. We still need people who have information to come forward,” said Persson.
More people will be interrogated during the week in light of the new witness information. The 36-year-old remains the only suspect for the crime.

you mean they should have used a crystal ball to realise that there was a witness who would not come forward until 6 years later?
They caught af arrested the guy at the time but could not prove it until the previously unknown witness came forward
