Fake porn fines hit thousands of Swedes

Thousands of Swedes have been paying faked fines for surfing on porn sites, depositing millions into fraudsters accounts, reported Swedish media on Saturday.

The police suspect people in Sweden, Switzerland and Lichtenstein are responsible for the fraud, reported Swedish national television SVT.

To one of the accounts that the police have traced, at least 1,500 and perhaps as many as 3,000 Swedes have paid the fake fines, thereby earning the suspects millions of kronor.

“Heaps of these fines have been sent out and a lot of people have been paying them,” said the Stockholm police force’s fraud expert Jan Olsson to SVT.

The letters that were sent out to thousands of Swedes at the end of summer stated that the recipient had downloaded pornography and that the action had been traced. In order to avoid charges being pressed, the fake letters stated, the person would have to pay a sum, between a few hundred kronor (100 kronor = $15) and several thousand kronor.

According to the police, few police reports have been filed, and the hidden cases are believed to be numerous.

“Since it says in the letter that you’ve down loaded porn, it becomes very sensitive. It’s not something you want to tell your wife about,” said Olsson to SVT.

His advice to those affected is clear:

“Definitely don’t pay anything. There’s no legal ground for this, and the Anti-Piracy Bureau has warned the public about this, it’s pure fraud.”

Haha that is funny even though quite sad.. Almost like when the condom machines were broken deliberately by pub owners in every pub in Ireland. Once one put the money in and got no gods no one was claiming their money back.

"Definitely don't pay anything. There's no legal ground for this, and the Anti-Piracy Bureau has warned the public about this, it's pure fraud."

So it is kind of legal to download porn but is illegal to download a movie/song/book? Interesting...

Reminds me of the old trick of getting people to spend loads of money on a real piece of junk item by giving them a 100% money-back guarantee. Most people demanded their money back for the worthless junk and the fraudsters would send them their money. The catch was that the money was in check form and the company address written on the check would always be something along the lines of, "Young Boy F*ckers of Nebraska" or "Butt Reamers and D*ck S*uckers United." Nobody ever took the checks to their bank and cashed them.

This fraud should've been illustrated with a better picture...

Most of us cant see the forest through the trees. TV Evangelists have been pulling the same kind of racket for eons. They tell you that you are doomed to hell, that the only way to salvation is through donations to their church. Id say that most religious people are being scammed every minute.

The Preachers are selling stock in heaven, but with absolutely no disclosure statements as would be required by any other stocks sales people.
23:54 September 8, 2012 by prince T
@Ctinej. What a liar you are. Can you be more specific on the pastors that told people that the only way to avoid hell is by donating to their church. I wonder how how rich u have become that do not give money to church.

@ Prince T

Religion has convinced people that there is an invisible man... living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the man has a list of ten specific things he does not want us to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until end of time. But he loves you, he loves you, And he needs money,
06:16 September 9, 2012 by prince T
You are perfectly right. RELIGION. christianity is not a religion but a way of life or lifestyle. This God is a loving God that died for sinners. His mercy is far greater than His wrath. It is more than 10 commandments. He actually helps u to live beyond 10 commandment bc u can never fulfill them by your will power. Of course money is needed to run cchurches but it is not a freedom from consequencies of your action. Afterall u call it KARMA.. U need to read the bible and find out for yourself. The traditional state church has done a great job about confusing pple about God. Though many have changed these days. I dont want to appear to be preaching but i need to correct misconception about faith.

It's funny how portraits of Jesus always are showing a white man even though he was supposedly born in the middle east. Why don't the regular racist criers of Sweden cry about this clearly racist case as well? Oh, I know, cause they are hypocrites.

@Prince T

The bible tells me I can sell my children into slavery, or rub feces on their faces or even kill them. It also says Moses tied his Ass to a tree and walked 5 km. Should we be doing all that also?

"prince T" is an idiot who started off his argument with: "as an objective atheist i would rather accept the love of our lord jesus rather than the wrongdoings off mohammed". i can't say much about those 2 guys, but you are a disgrace for hole humanity.
06:37 September 10, 2012 by prince T
I am proud to be an IDIOT. Thank u whoeye. @borrilla. U are not making any sence at alll. Can u be specific where Jesus told u to sell ur children into slavery.

@ctinej,

What you mentioned is, as far as I know, indigneous to the USA, but it's a scam nevertheless.

Speaking of fake porn, can somebody in Sweden help me out? Some dried up old clown I never heard of named Mauno Leskela from Mariestad (who claims to have been some kind of "famous" athlete) has been online stalking my wife. He keeps sending her emails saying "I love you" (even though he has never met her) and worse, he has sent a number of half-nude photos of himself wearing red underwear.

This four-eyed "beardo" is covered with tattoos and looks like a methhead and my wife is quite disturbed by all this. We live in Tokyo, Japan and are wondering who in Sweden we can report him to-----or better yet, if there is any Swedish media outlet that would be interested in getting these bizarre photos of some washed-up former athlete posing in his red underwear.

We are not interested in money or anything-----just embarrassing this nutjob who is probably sending out similar photos to other innocent women. I mean, come on, online stalking a married woman? How low can you go?.

Historic Stockholm Imagery »

" I have recently become addicted to a website called Stockholms Källan. The site is an amazing treasure trove of historical images of Stockholm. You can search by names or locations to find old photos and documents relating to whatever you’re interested in. This image is from a 1960’s short film called “Ditt Stockholm” (“Your Stockholm”).
