Driver tries to run down refugee kids twice

A motorist has tried to run over refugee children on two separate occasions in central Sweden, forcing local authorities to report the incidents to police.

Both incidents took place out the front of Solglimten, a refugee care facility in Älvdalen for children and youths, arriving to Sweden alone.

“Now it’s happened on two occasions. So we’ve now reported the incidents to the police,” said Mathias Jones, head of the facility, to the Dalarnas Tidning newspaper.

Both the car and the driver are known, according to the paper.

“We know that people are giving looks and pointing fingers, but there’s not much we can do. But now a car has driven at full speed at our youths twice, so it’s clearly more serious.”

The most recent attempted attack occurred a week ago

“We have really pleasant youths and it’s unacceptable that they should experience being threatened or needing to be saved,” Jones said.

To combat the problems, both Jones and a fellow programme coordinator intend to visit various schools and workplaces in the area to discuss the situation.

“Hopefully the knowledge will create a better understanding for the young people’s situation and our work,” Jones told the paper.

Älvdalen has an agreement with the Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket) to accept ten unaccompanied refugee children and youths, in a programme that is reimbursed by the board.

Refugee children? Come again?

The vast majority of these so-called "children" are adults and economic migrants, not refuguees. To believe anything else it is not enough to be blue-eyed, you have to be completely blind. Unless you are a professional Swedish journalist of course, they will pretend to believe anything if it suits their (political) agenda. The nutcase who stitched his lips together, supposedly age 15, is a perfect example.

I'm not suggesting it is OK to run over adult economic migrants, but it is time the Swedish press gets the facts right.

So attempted murder the first time didn't warrant a reason to report this to the police?
11:45 September 12, 2012 by Cephalectomy
#1 whatever they are, they are in the end humans, no one should run them over.

@johan rebel

yet another claim which has absolutely no proof.

Freud would have based that comment as part sexual insecurity.

"...... forcing local authorities to report the incidents to police." So the first go is free then? Thank God the driver hasn't killed anyone. The authorities don't seem too bothered.

hmmm... is it just me that this reads horribly wrong...

"We have really pleasant youths and it's unacceptable that they should experience being threatened or needing to be saved,"

Sooo, if they were unruly youths they SHOULD be theatened and shouldn't be saved? Sounds kinda brutal for a school.

"Both the car and the driver are known, according to the paper."

So why no arrests or questioning of the suspect?

Amazing!!.

Much like the doctor and nurse who take a lunch break because they are hungry during surgery for a patient who then dies, but they will sure get a stern warning and a finger shake.

Refugee children? Children refugee's do exist. One of the most iconic pictures of the last century shows an example children in war torn countries.

Hopefully, the information about "both the car and driver" have been passed to the police.

About a third of the above comments have a distinct racist tone - where are you going Sweden? You have 1940's Germany as an example - there is no excuse for this sort of right wing rubbish.

Is this a case of a really bad driver or very fast kids?

The reporter on this story saw no reason to pick up the telephone to get a quotable response from the police? What action [if any] they were taking?
21:13 September 13, 2012 by ironman294
To Gustav Jung, why is racism a right wing view? The biggest racists I meet in America and always Left wing or Liberal Democrats. I mean really Sweden is a very left-wing socialist country. Think about it.

When I was in Washington DC and happened upon a Tea Party Rally, it was young and old, 65% white, but the remaining 35% black, hispanic and asian and equal parts womena and women. Yet the counter group was Exclusively Angry Hairy DIrty Hippie looking Whites who were threatening to beat the Tea Party people. Why one liberal guy had to be held back from punching a woman and his buddies rather than saying "it's never right to hit a woman," instead said "It's not worth it!" Amazing no?

there is SO MUCH proof you raving loon. Norway instituted dental exams for 'unaccompanied minors' who show up there, and their flow dropped over 90%. Why hasn't Sweden instituted such exams? A man in Britain claiming to be 16 (and looked 40) turned out to have 3 kids, etc., etc. One of the defendants at the refugee house where that woman was gang raped by at least 8 men, was here as an unaccompanied minor aged 15, was then proven to be 24 or 25 years old.

Grow up. These aren't even economic immigrants, these are the prized sons of Afghani families who pay a lot of money to smuggle them up here.

@ironman294 = Obama and Eric 'my people' Holder, along with beloved Reverend Wright are prime examples of extreme racism. Racism is NOT a right wing ideology, and racism, sexism & anti-christianity views are viciously assaulted upon Swedes by non swedes, but sorry Swedes, you don't count because the money doesn't flow that way. Your leaders don't care if your daughter is raped and murdered by illiterate immigrants who never should have been here in the first place. Be TOLERANT you are told. Be tolerant to their intolerance, meet their violence with cowardice, and respond to their verbal hatred with silence. It worked for Indonesia, Persia, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, etc., right? Ask the jews and christians living there. Are there any left?
