Swedish military readies to protect Reinfeldt

The Swedish government has upped security for the government buildings at Rosenbad in Stockholm and soldiers are getting ready to protect the government offices against potential terrorist attacks or war.

“The plan for how to protect the government has been lying dormant for a number of years. Now we are resuming the protection of the government offices,” said the head of the Life Guards, Stefan Jägerhult, to newspaper Metro.

The military has so far been lacking a plan of how to protect the government in case of a terrorist attack or an act of war by a foreign nation. However, the Swedish Armed Forces have now applied for permission to have officers carry out a reconnaissance mission around the Swedish government offices at Rosenbad and other key government buildings.

Security was tightened at the government buildings on Monday, according to Metro. Previously it was possible to access reception areas of the different ministries, but now the doors will remain locked.

At the government offices, they are not willing to discuss the tightened security but confirmed to Metro that stricter rules on ID control have been implemented. The guards at the government offices also confirmed a tightening of security but said they hadn’t been informed as to why this was necessary.

The reconnaissance mission, scheduled for October, will be carried out by plain clothes officers.

“We are going to practice how we would act if something were to happen. It isn’t just terrorist attacks but we are looking at all sorts of scenarios,” said Jägerhult.

However, political scientist Stig-Björn Ljunggren told the paper that the protection of the government offices traditionally has been resting with the police, but that the threat has changed:

“There is no longer a distinction between enemies from within and enemies from outside of Sweden. Today there are enemies that can strike on the home ground and then the military can be deployed. Police and military have similar assignments today,” Ljunggren told Metro.

Jesus, not a good idea to go shouting to the world that you don't have a plan in place to protect people, but that you'll sort it out in a whole months' time. Doh.....

Typical Sweden! Always thinking about doing something and announcing that it will be done in two years.

"The reconnaissance mission, scheduled for October, will be carried out by plain clothes officers." Oh Lord! Dressed in black, dark eyeglasses and a Stetson black hat.

By the way: Did Sweden participate in the war of NATO (read Obama) in Lybia by helping the freedom fighters? I just read that the US ambassador in Lybia and other 3 diplomates were killed.

"The US Ambassador to Libya was killed in a rocket attack in the eastern city of Benghazi, Libyan officials reported on Wednesday. The attack comes after protesters had stormed the consulate in outcry over a film deemed offensive to Islam. "

I am glad that he was not butchered like Gadaffi was by the same Lybians that did not like the film about Islam.

I am just wondering

So hold on "the moron".

Is it good to help "freedom figters" against "bloodthirsty dictator" or vice versa? Because when Sweden trades with these dictators (see SA), there seems to be an outcry, in the other hand, when it helps to topple them, there is an even louder outcry.

Should we alternatively cut all ties with these dictatorships? But then Canada did so with Iran and now it seems to be a viable target for iranian sponsored terrorists as a "racist country". So what one must do to avoid attacks of "peaceful muslims", except accept sharia?

Sweden had better start proactive protection. and better make sure their militairy has good ammo unlike the US marines sent to protect Embassy WITHOUT ammo....???

BTW, protest and embassy bombing was NOT against a movie, it was planned months ago and the US state department knew about it 2 weeks ago. Obama just didn't bother to attend security briefings for 2 weeks.... http://www.nogg.se/therightpage

maybe sweden knows more than they are letting on. could those lunatics the jews and USA be about to launch an attack on iran and the USA's allies are preparing for home grown attacks? wouldnt surprise me. I was hoping they would wait until I got home to the bottom of the world far far away from all this. I hope with oil at 1400kr a barrel ( or more ) that the planes can keep flying.
