Police catch 'ruthless' subway robber

Police on Saturday said they are certain that the man arrested on Friday is the subway robber caught on security camera emptying the pockets of an unconscious man at a Stockholm station, leaving him to be run over by a train.

On Saturday, investigator Dan Östman told the TT news agency the police are completely sure that they have caught the right person.
The robber, who is in his thirties, was taken by police from the suburb of Akalla just north of Stockholm. He is suspected on probable grounds of aggravated theft and concealment of stolen property.
Two other men are being held on suspicion of protecting a criminal.
The inebriated victim - referred to in the Swedish media as Johnny, 38 - was returning home after a night out with his friends when he fell down on the tracks at the Sandsborg metro station south of Stockholm.
The robber jumped down on the tracks and emptied Johnny's pockets before coldly walking away from the scene.
Johnny was severely wounded when a train hit him soon after the robbery.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday morning, was caught on surveillance cameras and was featured on the TV show Efterlyst (Wanted), which aired on TV3 on Wednesday evening.
Tips from the public have since helped the police catch the suspected robber.
"A number of tips have concurred and we identified a location and a residence where this person was. He matches the images," said Dan Östman of the Stockholm police to DN.

I pray that his crown prosecutor that will have enough imagination to draw up some very serious charges against this dung heap, and/or that he will get input from other prosecutors through conversations around the water cooler at the court house.

attempt to alert authorities or others.
Sweden is criticized by some as a nation where people mind their own business a bit too much, an attitude that some view as politeness, but which others view as
cold and uncaring. A good samaritan law would be one small step in reversing that impression, and could have saved at least one man from serious injury and
a lifelong disability in this particular case, if the law was widely known and respected.
To those who think this crime was an extremely isolated incident, they should be aware that good samaritan law could also complicate the lives of gang members,
who probably stand around and do nothing when others within the gang stab or beat some victim to death.
When I and the hopefully long queue have finished, hopefully he'll be nailed to a tree by his testicles. That way, he will be as much use to society as he is today.

You are correct. He was harassed to the point that he wanted to get away from the criminal. That`s when he stumbled onto the tracks.

The thief is a robber actually in some way. Because, he irritated the drunk man. And, unable to bear the irritation he walked away and later walked a short distance and tried to vomit (puke) and fell on the tracks.
When a person is drunk his reaction time decreases and he just forgets the situations fast. The scariness can also cause changes in the body. Of course he could have vomited. But, maybe he could have vomited just nearby or in the train too. He went from the bench and in some seconds, forgot about the thief and while walking he thought to vomit. So, he vomited on the tracks as to keep the platform clean. But, fell down as he was too drunk.
If the thief would have not irritated the man. He would have just stayed there and later he could have vomited in the same spot instead of vomiting away. The drunk man did not shout at the robber because either he was a soft person or he was not in a position to argue or fight back. The vomit occurred while he was walking. Not while he was sitting. And, the drunk man was sure that there is a man sitting beside him who was irritating him. The drunk man is not a blind man. He can see the things clearly. When he fell on the tracks he got hurted. Again reaction time decreases. Tiredness, sleepy. Then his brain doesn't work properly to realize the situations. He is not in a position to think that it was a railway track.
p.s remember again. The reaction time of the drunk man has reduced due to his drunkenness.
This person seems to be addicted thief every weekend nights going after drunk people to steal, one of the reason that why he did not help the man could be his profession (stealing from drunken) and he might have seen many falling or dying.
However, Immigrant like this person is shame for entire immigrants, as an immigrant myself in Sweden, I would request that this person should be deported after spending 30 yeas in jail. If i were to judge this person I wouldn't let him go easily.

Perhaps he was upset about the fact that Sweden sells arms to the oppressing government in his homeland and he finds his poor and bad life because of Sweden and now he blames this misfortune to all Swedes so in his sick mind it is OK to give this money back from any ordinary Swede since all Swedes are to blame. It does not matter if the guy is black or white or green, his actions are the problem.
When you bring in people from war zones, where in order to survive people have to steal and scavange from others, you cannot expect that they can adapt to our ways of life within a few days. These people need help and support to adapt to our way of life and to what we think is normal. For them it is normal to watch people die, or even to kill, because this is what is needed where they are from and have lived for many years.
Bringing in many of these people at once and without psychological support and follow up does create issues.
This is not racism, nor discrimination. It is just a fact of life.
It is good that Sweden wants to help and welcomes people who need it. But it should be done the proper way, with support once these people are in Sweden to ensure they integrate fully. And if we have no resources to do so, then we should limit the amount of refuges we take in.

I can't find no justifying reason whatsoever for publishing the clips rather than making grounds for a political move towards passing a good samaritan law which itself is a violation of a very main principle for police and that is to not enter political agendas. police can only provide with recommendations to the lawmakers. the moment police enters politics unilaterally, a country should start saying farewell to liberty.
1- what good the swedish society gains out of publishing those clips? A: a non-dangerous thief is caught.

This is the primary risk/benefit analysis any sound-minded police chief should do as it is done in any organization before taking anything into action.
