The preliminary investigation against two Norrköping nurses, under suspicion of maltreating patients at a care home in central Sweden, has been dropped despite allegations that one pressed vomit down a patient’s throat.

"Different people have different views as to how the patients should be handled..."
Some have the view that the elderly should have vomit stuffed down their throats. Let us by all means respect all views.
Excuse me? What happened to minimum standards of care?
Would these nurses escape further action if the patients had been any other age? What about infants?
However I don't know why the Local persists in calling the staff "nurses" when it is quite clear that they were not nurses at all but very poorly trained care assistants.
Ättestupa, ätteklubbe, and släktklubbe are old terms which still surface in debates regarding the care and treatment of the elderly.
Ättestupa refers to select cliffs, off of which, the Nordic elderly were said to have flung themselves when they could no longer support themselves or work on the farm. Ätteklubbe or släktklubbe refers to clubs allegedly used to kill non-productive elderly.
Anthropologists have found evidence of what they believe to be elderly killings through starvation, neglect, poison, and nails driven into brains. However, the reality of the ättestupa and ätteklubbe/släktklubbe is questioned by contemporary historians or viewed as a short-lived occurrence.
Some historians see these references (ättestupa, etc.) as myths and pedagogical folklore whose purpose was 1) to warn the elderly against willingly accepting old age and collective murder and 2) to urge the elderly to maintain power over their own lives as long as possible.

I'm sure "care" will only improve once politicians cut an additional 2000 healthcare jobs. :(
So very sad how the elderly are disregarded. They have lived through so many things that kids these days will never know. They know how to survive through Depressions, Wars, famines and yet are just thrown away because they are old.
So tell me what really constitutes "old"? When you are young and in your twenties everything is old when you get to your fourties you realize you are now getting old. You are already saying goodbye to so many loved ones. So tell me what is "old"?
Old is when they are throwing dirt on your face as they lower you into the ground until that moment everyone has value.
