Counter-terrorism chiefs resign in protest

The director and deputy director of Sweden's Counter-Terrorism Co-operative Council (Nationellt centrum för terrorhotbedömning) have resigned after less than a year.

"There was a lack of dialogue about the mission and the operations," the resigned director, Malena Rembe, told the Dagens Nyheter newspaper (DN).

The deputy director, whose identity is kept secret, has re-joined the National Defence Radio Establishment (Försvarets radioanstalt).

The Counter-Terrorism Co-operative Council is tasked with analysing terror threats and informing and updating different authorities. It is a cooperative body coordinating the work of the National Defence Radio Establishment, the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) and the Military Intelligence and Security Service MUST (Militära underrättelse-och säkerhetstjänsten).

Rembe has been in the job for less than a year. She was previously head analyst at Säpo's counter-terrorism unit.

On October 19th Rembe and her deputy chose to resign in quiet, without making a public announcement.

Rembe did not want to go into detail about her reasons for resigning, but she did cite differences in opinion between intelligence chiefs and the government when it comes to whether or not the public should be informed about terror threats.

Willhelm Agrell, a professor in intelligence analysis at Lund University, told Dagens Nyheter that the Counter-Terrorism Co-operative Council plays an important role in overcoming the gaps that exist between the Swedish authorities that deal with intelligence.

"Sweden retains a structure from the Second World War, with different intelligence authorities guarding their separate territories and missions," said Agrell.

"Previously, there was no coordinating body at a central level, but the threats have become more complex and overarching. Therefore it is important that this kind of council functions well."

According to Magnus Ranstorp, head of research at the Center for Asymmetric Threat Studies (Centrum för asymmetriska hot- och terrorismstudier), it is remarkable that the intelligence chiefs have resigned after such a short period of time.

"The council has an important role in making long-term assessments," said Ranstorp.

How come the psychos are so eager to reveal themselves as such? I mean capitalizing every word in a comment completely unrelated to the article.... What else, but a suggestion for a good psychiatrist could be suggested?

Haha... Resigned over what the public should know huh?

Let me guess, the powers that be want to continue to keep the Swedish public ignorant about the legions of terrorist psychopaths their govt has opened the gates to.

What else is new... Misinformation and deceiving the public is official Swedish policy on this stuff.

Brilliant

I love all those who bring conspiracy blogs as an argument for anything.

There is no muslim terror. There are no Boko Haram, Al Qaida and Al Shabab who feel, oh so comfortably, in Sweden. Islamists offer nothing, but peace and accomodation.

About 10 million people who died at the hand of islamic regimes and terrorists since the 50's are pure CIA staging.

CIA invaded Iran and Kuwait. CIA starved Darfur and parts of Somalia. CIA made parts of Yemen uncontrollable. CIA proposed Taliban ideology and now it poses as Taliban fighters against american troops. CIA sends suicide bombers into buses, arranges islamic pogroms of serb christians, hindu and chinese. CIA shoots rockets on Jews, CIA rapes reporters on Cairo squares and lynches Lybian dictators (who are also CIA). CIA beheads nuns when priests in US burn Koran, CIA explodes in Tunisian sinagogues and Egyptian churches. CIA takes control of Nigeria and arranges genocide of Tuareg, as it is so used to do it with the kurds, druze, jordanian and lebanese christians.

Hey, there is no islam! It is an invention of CIA and Mohammad is a CIA agent.... AMAZING discovery! Add it to the reliable blog.

Be British, be sincere and be bold »
