Find it quite pleasing fresh air, a a cock crow in the morning. The eggs taste like nothing you can buy. Kids seem to benefit looking after them as well
They are also the best waste disposal "units" one can own.
Before you plant have the hens clean the garden and fertilise it first.
Are these city people moving to rural areas to moan? If you want a REALLY noisy bird try a peacock!
Rat poison - dont know about chooks but it works well on dogs!
we have a similar problem in australia. you can keep a dozen barking, defecating dogs in your backyard - but cant have chooks or a goat because it unhygenic.
crazy. you dont see chooks urinating on every building and piece of furniture in stocjholm. never heard of a chook getting into someones yard and killing every living animal for chucks and giggles. but I know plenty of people who have lost the pets to puppy wuppy ( aka mindless killing barking machine ) getting into their yard.
