'Open the borders': Centre Party

Published: 16 Dec 12 11:01 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/45094/20121216/

The Swedish Centre Party believes free immigration into Sweden could solve the country's labour-power needs.

The Centre Party has outlined the new immigration policy in its proposal for a new party programme, writing that Sweden should open its borders and welcome anyone who wants to come to the country.

"Anybody who wants to should be able to create a future here," Per Ankersjö, chairman of the Centre Party programme group, told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

According to Ankersjö, who is a city commissioner in Stockholm, open borders are a necessity due to Sweden's lack of labour power and the "flight" from sparsely populated areas.

"Parts of Sweden are dying out and there is a great need for workers in some types of jobs that Swedes don't want," said Ankersjö.

He emphasized that the new immigration policy would need to be combined with a new labour market policy. For instance, the Centre Party proposes measures to guarantee more flexibility in the system as well as the introduction of lower wages for those who are new on the labour market.

"I believe most people would choose low-paid work over being alienated for 10 years," said Ankersjö.

He denied that the Centre Party wants to import foreign workers to fill low-status positions.

"I don't see it that way," said Ankersjö.

"Having a job in Sweden involves much greater quality of life than living in poverty or as a refugee elsewhere. That's how one should view this."

Ankersjö hopes that Centre Party leader Annie Lööf will push the proposed new immigration policy in parliament. However, she may meet resistance to the idea of open borders: migration minister Tobias Billström of the Moderate Party recently proposed stricter rules around family reunification.

Johan Hedin, the Centre Party's immigration policy spokesperson, told the TT news agency that he believes prospects are good for getting support from the other Alliance parties.

He added that the new proposal is compatible with the freedom of movement currently existing within the European Union.

"It is not very crowded in Sweden," Hedin said.

"Of course we have to introduce many reforms, especially on the labour market, in order for people to be able to come here and live their lives. But apart from that nothing is stopping us from opening the borders, I think."

In a recent poll by Statistics Sweden (Statistiska Centralbyrån), the Centre Party received just 4.4 percent of the votes.

"We are not particularly relevant in Swedish politics today. This proposal could change that," said Ankersjö.

The Centre Party's new party programme proposal will be presented on Tuesday December 18th. It will then be reviewed by the party board before being officially accepted at the party convention in March.

That is just insanely stupid. They say "Of course we have to introduce many reforms, especially on the labour market, in order for people to be able to come here and live their lives. But apart from that nothing is stopping us from opening the borders, I think." I think!?!?! What the hell do you mean I think? Sounds like they really studied this.

Are you kidding me? I've been in Sweden for 2 years, looking for any type of stable work with any wage and there was still nothing. I was willing to relocate anywhere in Sweden and work for anyone. Still nothing. How does he even dare saying there's a shortage of work when people that are already here can't find work? I have a master's degree from a top Swedish university and speak a basic Swedish and even with that, I'm willing to work anywhere even washing dishes.

more then 10% unemployment and this guy want to have free immigration into Sweden ? i predict center party will not be elected in the government by next election.

I agree with Localer.

Be prepared to pay out more welfare checks.....

I am not going to vote for the Center!!!

Making a future here as a newbie requires cash-flow and the ability to outsource accounting and pay for transport, accommodations etc .. It's very hard! I agree with the principal of free trade & opportunity but Sweden needs to lower taxes to jump start prosperity .. not increase fiscal burdens.

If you vote for the Centre or other leftist parties Sweden is finished. There is evil in this world and they want to see the Swedish way of life changed (destroyed). Cast your vote carefully.
18:23 December 16, 2012 by jostein
Im considering voting for them actually. Or the MP. Depending what the polls look like.

sweden is an interesting place where you can be truly subversive and revolutionary simply by supporting the mainstream parties :p

My analysis is that sweden is already dead and the swedish way of life is doomed. What this new party the SD is suggesting will just kill us Swedes off more slowly but in return with absolute certainty. Surely it is better to hand the reigns over to these baffoons and let them crash the cart as it were? Lets see if there is still some juice left in us Swedes? Help C bring on the chaos!

The Guy Must have gone Mad. Swedes love Asylum beggars. All they want is People from North africa and middle East who are desperate to leave their Country. Competency is least valued Here in sweden. There is clear Racinm in Job Interviews. The Managers do Not Encourage competency . All They want is Refugee Pigs.

It's a good idea to open the borders to fill the shortage of skilled labour but I'd suggest this guy must read the news on the local which was published a couple of weeks ago that Swedes are being paid to ''find work in Norway'' such as one month accommodation cost and travelling.

If you are unable to provide jobs to your own citizen how can you provide jobs to those who will come to Sweden with imaginative ''Swedish Dreams'' a life full of prosperity, money, excellent healthcare system, free education, plenty of professional jobs, easy integration and last but not least Swedish lifestyle,( lugnt och lagom). Stress free....

Are you kidding me? I've been in Sweden for two years and I still haven't found anything. No work. I speak a basic Swedish and have a master's degree from a top Swedish University (Uppsala). And even with that, nothing. I'm willing to work anywhere, in any kind of stable job, for any wage. There is no work for me. How does he even dare say he wants to import workers when there's people here in Sweden with more than the needed qualifications that are out of work?

"It is not very crowded in Sweden," Hedin said.

Siberia is not very crowded either. :S

I don't know what kind of political party this is, but they better come up with more solid arguments to back-up their silly ideas.

Sweden doesn't need just any immigrant. Sweden needs skilled people in STEM fields who have good amount of money in their bank account, so they can support themselves for a couple of years without any work or government support and also keep Swedish economy going with this foreign originated money. This is the only way to compensate for the wealth lost to Asian and other emerging countries over the last 2 decades.

Now, This is the best kind of immigrant. Unfortunate for them that this kind of immigrants still prefer North America over continental Europe. A skilled immigration system like the one Canada has would probably help.

News flash - humans are territorial creatures.

If we are not territorial creatures then we simply would not have spent the last few thousand years around the world battling it out for territory, and we would not have established internationally recognized borders. I can imagine the need to have respected borders is deeply entrenched in our human DNA?

"It is not very crowded in Sweden," Hedin said.

But Sweden is over-crowded. Most of Europe is exceedingly over-crowded.

To get away from the over-crowded cities, not just in Sweden, but to most of Northern Europe, then you really need to get as high up as Dalarna. So this makes me wonder how much thought these guys have given to environmental costs of mass immigration and an open border policy?

Who wants to take their kids fishing when there are no longer any fish left in the lakes and who wants to go hiking when there are humans crammed fill in every national park trail in the country!

Not only do they not seem to care one bit about the destruction of the national Swedish cultural heritage, but they seem to be more than happy to throw the natural environmental heritage into the dumpster along with it.

Learn from Canada... Sweden. Stop bringing in uneducated immigrants and much people from the same region....middle east..north africa and somalia. It is not good for muticulturalism.

If you combine open immigration with welfare statism, then as a nation, you are finished.

I thought it might be fun to spend a year or two in Sweden and looked around a little but it seems they are primarily looking for young labor, not a 51 year old with an MS/CS degree and 20+ years experience (and a few patents to boot).

Young labor is much less expensive.

It's a nice Christmas idea at this time of the year when Santa is in an expansive mood, but how sincere is Per Ankersjö, the philanthropist?

At this stage his grand "Open the borders"concept is still only a rough idea, still rather vague since he hasn't given us any details and since he himself doesn't know to what extent it's feasible or how it could impact on the Swedish people and economy, how does he intend to persuade others about the merits of his big idea? Of course he has the right and even the potential to float any vague idea about importing a few million indentured workers from China or Vietnam, to add to the army of Sweden's unemployed.

At this stage he is merely giving a big boost to SD, since it is a safe assumption that most rational beings already in this country think that "charity begins at home" and only after that can we begin to consider giving foreign aid to Uncle Sam/ Brother Obama to help pay their $16 trillion national debt or suggesting to the US government that the US opens its border with Mexico.

In effect at this stage Per Ankersjö is only succeeding in polarising the nation so that the disgruntled can make a clear choice between his New Centre immigration party and SD the anti-immigration Party. On this single issue it stands to reason that the SD is the clear winner.

Conclusion: Per Ankersjö is an SD mole...

Just say a word, and we will have 1 million of tough, intelligent and hard working vietnamese and chinese at your doorsteps by tomorrow, as simple as that. The way I see it sweden, that you would need workers to support your soon to be broken welfare system, and fighters for your soon to be broken country.

Immigration only works if you let in people who have the education and life skills necessary to get and keep a job.

Most immigrants to Sweden so far don't have enough education or life skills and they actively prevent their children from obtaining them.

How will letting in more of the same help?
17:15 December 26, 2012 by fareasttiger
I would vote for the SD in a heart beat and if needed I would accept the ultimate price side by side among them my brothers...so, long live SD and long live Sweden!

Oh, I am a foreigner by the way...

I can not believe that anyone could be so stupid, or maybe they are not stupid they are just malign.

This policy is genocidal in intent and it will certainly become genocidal if it comes to pass. It will eventually wipe out the Swedish people, it can't fail to, it is an inevitability. Do they not realise how many people outside Europe want to come to Europe? It is certainly far more than the current population of Europe.

What the Swedish people view as tolerance, has become a suicidal madness, and it will drive them to extinction.

It may not have been Euripides who said "Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad" but whoever it was, they were right. If these people get their way then the first stage of Sweden's destruction will be complete.

Pure insanity. Racial and cultural suicide. Whoever is behind this is out to destroy Sweden.
