NY-based princess least favourite in Sweden

With her big sister so popular that many Swedes want her to take over the throne as soon as possible, Princess Madeleine instead has to deal with being the least favourite royal in the Swedish monarchy.

A new Sifo poll ordered by the tabloid Expressen shows that the youngest princess has the fewest confidence votes from the Swedish people of any member of her immediate family.

That she is set to marry in Stockholm on June 8th, 2013, bringing hordes of foreign royals to fête the event with her, seems not to have helped her dwindling popularity.

Confidence in Madeleine has fallen from last year.

Sifo asked 1,000 people to rate their confidence in the royal family using a five-point scale where one meant "no confidence at all" and five stood for "very high confidence".

Madeleine's average score was 2.8.

Her big sister, the Crown Princess, enjoyed a 4.2 average. She was followed by her husband, Prince Daniel, then her mum, her father, her brother and, lastly, Princess Madeleine.

Last year, Madeleine's average score was 3.1.

Men younger than 30 are the least likely to like the New York-based princess, who fled Sweden after a notorious breakup with her then fiancé.

She is now set to marry American financier Chris O'Neill.

Of course she's unpopular. She prefers New York to Sweden.

She didn't read the memo: Sweden Is Best.

Not surprising, considering that she prefers living abroad

Not surprising, considering young men are terrified of gorgeous, powerful women.

Cut her loose, and make her pay her own way in life. Then nobody need worry about her (lack of) popularity.

She is very ordinary now with black hair much more attractive as a blonde even if it wasn't natural.
