Store owner fined for urine attack on shoplifter

A store manager with Swedish supermarket chain Ica has been convicted of assault after pouring urine over a woman he had caught shoplifting in his Stockholm shop.

"What occurred in the shop was completely unacceptable," said Anders Svensson, CEO of Ica Sweden, to Sveriges Television (SVT).

"He is guilty of something that we at Ica take a strong stand against, and we have informed him of this."

After the man caught the female shopper pinching items in his central Stockholm store, he rang the police and blocked the exit so the light-fingered customer was forced to wait with him for officers.

When the woman asked to use the store's bathroom, the staff member refused, at which point the shopper used a waste paper bin to relieve herself.

The shop assistant then poured the bin's contents back onto the woman.

During police interrogation, the staff member claimed that he was simply "giving back what belonged to the woman."

When the police arrested the woman, they asked her why her clothes were wet and she explained what had happened, although her story was denied by the shop attendant who claimed he had only poured dishwater on her.

However, the court refused to believe his claims and demanded he pay damages to the woman totalling 10,000 kronor ($1,540).

I wonder what sentence she got for shoplifting and peeing in public...

I am not shocked by the shop owner's reaction... She stole from him and peed in the middle of his shop!

Unbelievable...

I can't believe that the victim of a crime gets fined for his actions of defending his property and keeping the actual criminal in line.

@abe l i know right? if you as a victim defend yourself you get fined for assault. that's the Swedish law for you. you cant do jack sh*t against criminal but they can do whatever they want to you! you touch them you get fined for assault.

This is what is really wrong with Sweden. Justice turned on its head, God, you deserve it. Live long and suffer.

The shopkeeper was pissed off, and rightly so!

10,000 kr damages? What the heck was she wearing? Sweidhs kids who witness the murder of their parents would be lucky to get as much.

Don't worry Sweden you are not alone with this madness, here in the UK exactly the same thing would have happened, the shopkeeper would have been arrested.

A few months ago a house owner caught a burgler in his home and bashed him over the head.....guess who got arrested and charged with GBH, absolutely pissed off with these "liberals" who have bought us to this.

Where's your heart? What if you shoplifted and then peed in a trash can...? Gosh, hasn't that ever happened to you?

It's hard to believe, but then again we've all read about the student survey concerning an accident involving a person and an elk where more than 50% of respondents weren't sure who they ought to help first.

I hope and trust the shopkeeper appeals his sentence and wins his case!

I expect she was asked to please not do it again, after claiming it was PMT
