Elderly lady drove home wrong car

An 80-year-old Swedish woman jumped into the wrong car on Friday, and finding the keys in the ignition she was able to drive home completely unaware that her own car remained in the supermarket car park.

The pensioner proceeded to park the car in her garage in her home in Olofström in Blekinge in southern Sweden, removed a training holdall from the back seat, and went inside with her shopping.

It wasn't until the octogenarian's daughter dropped by later in the afternoon and spotted the holdall that the mix up came to light, according to a report in the local Blekinge Läns Tidning (BLT).

The pensioner told her daughter that she had taken the bag in from the car. When the daughter took a look in the garage she noticed that the parked car bore no resemblance to her mother's.

The police were called and the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, was returned to its rightful owner who had admitted to forgetting their keys in the car.

According to a statement on the Blekinge police website, the pensioner will not be subject to a police investigation.

The woman's car was meanwhile found where she had left it, outside the supermarket.
