Top prosecutor nabbed in prostitution sting

Police in Stockholm were surprised on Monday to find that a man they had arrested for buying sex from a prostitute was the duty prosecutor to whom they were obliged to report the crime.

The chief prosecutor spent Monday evening with a female prostitute in a central Stockholm hotel. A police squad, however, had been tipped off and was waiting for him in the staircase outside the room.

Officers were surprised to learn of the man's status while arresting him, as he was the prosecutor on duty to whom they should report the crime.

The man paid 1,500 kronor ($232) for the sex, according to the Expressen newspaper.

He had allegedly found the escort online, when "surfing around on his iPhone" during a train trip, during which he consumed half a bottle of wine and a beer.

"And then I did what I am suspected of - I went out into the staircase and the police arrested me there," the prosecutor told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

He has confessed to the crime, and his family has been notified.

"My wife will leave me and my children think I have behaved like a pig. Even my friends think the same," he told Expressen.

The man told Aftonbladet that in his experience as a prosecutor, he knew that the "stupidest thing" he could do was to lie.

"I have done what I've done, I'm standing with my pants down. The worst is what I have done to my family and friends," he said.

The arrested man explained that another prosecutor would take care of the case, and that he was unaware of his punishment, or when it would likely be determined.

Funny how now the man thinks about his family after his actions are done with. Isn't nice for his family to know their father and husband chose his dick over them!!!

Hilarious,

Now what if the Swedes got their act together and legalized prostitution. While they are at it, they may as well all drugs as well.

Just another case of "do as we tell you, but not as we do". It's a never-ending story!

karma sucks...... Perhaps this disgusting law might finally be done away with and peoples individuals rights as consenting adults might be restored. Instead of the government's invasion of privacy......

Police surprised? By what? Corruption in the legal system? Double dipping? Surely not ...

Philly, I agree partly, but don't know if legalizing it, would reduce people trafficking etc..

If prostitution would have just been legal then these police resources could have been spend on catching actual criminals and solving actual crime.

We are now depraving these women from an income and the state from taxes from what could be a normal legal profession.

Totally agreed with post #8.

Regulate and legalise and get on with your lives.

Storm in a T-cup. Interesting that so few have been sentenced over the last 10 years since the "sexköpslagen" came into effect. Hasn`t stopped trafficking either judging by todays DN article, only 7 sentenced from 119 cases, thats a pretty bad record for the police & prosecutors. So the lefty women have punished a few men & feel good about themselves but the game has continued. This kind of thing happens all over the world but here in Lilliput high-morals Sweden its big news....LOL. Go after the German model, see how it is in Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium...hookers & Johns ain´t gonna disappear Gudrun ! Most men (even the gays too) are driven by sexlust & thats it girls !!! remember no sexlust , no babies, we are only naked apes.

Johnny1939. That's a rather naive view. In Netherlands prostitutes must undergo mandatory testing in order to work as prostitutes... Are you saying that if you use a prostitute you will automatically become HIV positive? Perhaps if Sweden didn't have such an archaic view towards it then they would be able to establish the same system as Netherlands and then HIV wouldn't be a problem as they would know that the prostitutes are disease free.

If there are still women being trafficked then obviously criminalizing it isn't working. This is more a display of the Uber feminism securing a hollow victory than anything else.......If equality is so predominant in Sweden why are men the only ones being prosecuted here? Sweden is full of double standards...

Sweden, a place where it every local is free to be racist and xenophobic but the mere act between two consenting adults is a crime.

Chuck I couldn't agree more. And yet Sweden naively presents itself as "Liberal and tolerant". It is far from it. Sweden has moved so far to the right that I a sure they will have their own version of Fox news soon.......Wait and see. Even the word "liberal" will become a swear word. The irony is that they criticize the US but fail to realize how much like the right wing neo conservative U.S. they have become......

And the damned Swedish department of Justice has the bloody nerve to go after Julian Assange based on two political goupies complaints while their prosecutors are making money selling sex. What a bunch of perverse hypocrites these government agencies are.
