Stockholm police end 'racial profiling' push

Swedish police announced on Friday that officers would no longer be asking public transport users for identification, after their past efforts to deport undocumented migrants were branded as racial profiling.

Even though the police push was later found to be legal, officers decided to put a stop to the project on Friday.
They said that what was essentially a small part of the police's work was being subjected to too much public scrutiny to be considered worthwhile.
The project entitled Reva, which stands for Rättssäkert och effektivt verkställighetsarbete ('Legal and effective execution of policy'), saw officers allegedly targeting "foreign-looking" commuters on Stockholm's underground railway lines.
Reva was blasted by politicians and immigrants' rights activists alike who claimed officers were racially profiling.
Furthermore, nine out of ten people that police questioned turned out to have the right to live in Sweden.
Reacting to the presence of police in the Stockholm metro system, activists took to social media sites Twitter and Facebook to warn other commuters and map out where the officers were performing checks.

I'm sure we all hope the police round them up, by legitimate means, as soon as possible.
That way legitimate residents such as Allnotmoney can go about his/her business without suspicion and interference.
The police asking not only non-European looking people passport is not racist? And why the selection is based on look? Why racist people always try to find stupid excuses. I know a lot of non-European looking guys who are legal in Sweden, and I am sure, they are not impressed with this recent Reva policies.
Bravo to the Swedish politicians for this brave move.
A few SD pukes get a seat in government and this happens?
Friends in other parts of the world are asking me about this,what should I tell them about the country that I otherwise stand so strongly behind?
I know how this sounds but,I know plenty of fair-skinned illegals from European countries who are here for work or asylum of some kind,clearly,they are not on the menu in these sweeps, seems to be all about people of color.
It's just plain racist!

Sweden need look no further than recent history of witch hunts to see how this crap usually ends up reflecting on the country's history.

To be fair the Swedish Government has reacted fairly quickly, it took weeks of rioting before Thatcher finally abandoned SUS.
Are illegals non-white people who are not wearing stylish clothes?O are they people who have different mannerisms?
I am in no way surprised by this behavior by white people in Sweden. If you are stupid enough to buy into the Swedes altruistic "act" as a non-"white" then you are a fool.
What a shame for the UK,a place as diversified as NYC has been for ages.
Still,this is a conversation we shouldn't have to have in Sweden.
We should be talking about how we could more properly intergrate the people already here!
Integration part is easy, the government has to simply start to implement the numerous race, equality and competition Directives and start real economic inclusion rather than giving lip service.
in these "nationalistic" and economically tough times,it's that much harder to get governments and the people to buy in.
