With 22-year-old Robin Stjernberg set to represent Sweden at Eurovision in May, not everyone is toasting his success. Some Swedes are seething that the singer wasn't even the leading vote-getter in Sweden. Could the system be flawed?
@thelocalsweden And what an overwhelmingly depressing result. I've almost lost faith in Swedish public. It'll be Las Vegas all over again

@thelocalsweden ironic that the "international jury" choose a generic American Idol wannabe over kid doing Swedish/Japanese pop mashup.
— fitz (@chrisfitzpat) March 11, 2013
@thelocalsweden the thing is that people seems to have forgotten the reason why we brought in the international jury to begin with!

@thelocalsweden People I know who normally have good taste were getting extremely defensive about music that should only be used in torture.

@thelocalsweden Not a waste of time and money. But lets kick out the international jury alongside with arrogant Swedes!

@thelocalsweden Out of all of the music and talent shows on TV, it's the best one.

Too right mate. Sadly, Russian, Latin and Balkan TV's (the electrical variety) will not now be bombarded with beer cans thrown by half-drunk, pot-bellied homophobes disappointed to learn the tasty looking Swedish chick is not quite all she seems.
Germany won it exactly in the time where they were 90% on their way to withdraw completely (including truckloads of money) using the daughter of a high-end diplomat as figurehead.
If you look for fairness and honesty in ESC, you wont find it, watch something else.
I ditched it many years ago and miss nothing.
It would've been great to have Yohio represent us.
However, changing the voting system would be a mistake IMO. I mean, we live in a country where people watch Bingolotto/Postkod lotteriet, listen to aforementioned dansband musik and eat Kalles kaviar and saltlakris. No offence meant, but nuff said. Do Swedes really want to make themselves a laughing stock by allowing gemen man to choose the Swedish entry all by themselves?
Nor do have I anything whatsoever against 17-year-od crossdressers, quite the opposite, but did people vote for Tokio because he had a good song that could win Eurovision, or because he's pretty and/or to make a political statement?
