Looking for somewhere to lay your weary head? The Local has put together a list of some of the most useful sites when searching for accommodation in Sweden:

  • Bostaddirekt.com. Probably the most useful online resource for finding a second-hand rental. It costs 695 SEK for 45 days, but provides many more leads than free alternatives.

  • Andrahand.se. List of sublets available for rent. Swedish only.

  • Bytalyn.com. Another online resource for second-hand rentals. Some services are free, but it costs 189 SEK for one month of full access. Swedish only.

  • The Local's Noticeboard enables you to search for accommodation, advertise available apartments or rooms and put out appeals for available apartments. All over Sweden.

  • The Swedish Student Accommodation Association runs this useful site to help students search for accommodation in all Swedish university towns and cities.

  • Studentstaden. Student housing agency in Uppsala.

  • Stifelsen Stockholms Studentbostäder. Student housing agency in Stockholm.

  • List of student housing agencies around Sweden. Swedish only.

  • Studentlya.nu. Second hand rentals for students.

  • Annonstorget at Stockholm University. Look for 'bostäder uthyres.' (Many universities and colleges have similar bulletin boards with housing listings).

  • Blocket.se. Sweden's answer to e-bay. Scroll down to 'bostad.' (Swedish only)

  • Dagens Nyheter.Click on 'bostad' in the top navigation bar. Then scroll down to 'Leta bland privatannonserna' (search private listings) and 'uthyres.' Swedish only.

  • Eniro.se. Scroll down to 'Bostäder.' Swedish only.

  • Useful list of links in English from 'Aussies in Sweden.' A few of the links are broken, but a great place to start.

  • Aftonbladet's list of housing links. Swedish only.
