Government to introduce dog owner ban

A new law is to make it possible to ban certain owners from keeping dogs if they do not handle the animals in the proper manner.

The government's proposal does not however include a general ban on so-called fighting dogs. Agriculture Minister Eskil Erlandsson has previous explained his reasoning:
"It's not possible to point out some breeds and say that others aren't dangerous. It becomes problematic with cross-breeding and the definition of breeds. As well as that it is possible to possible to train any dog to be aggressive."
