Tennis

Jonas Björkman and Robin Söderling have both fallen foul to Wimbledon weather as their third round matches have been put on hold.

Björkman saw off Spaniard Fernando Vicente in stright sets in their first-round encounter on Day 2, while Söderling had little trouble with Olivier Rochus from Belgium.

Thomas Johansson however was left to pack his bags after losing in three sets to Gael Monfils from France.

The surviving Swedes dropped a set each in their respective second round matches, with Björkman seeing off the challenge of Yeu-Tzuoo Wang and Söderling dispatching Sebastien Grosjean

Björkman, 35, is still waiting to tackle the only player in the competition older than him, 36-year-old Australian Wayne Arthurs.

More on their encounter here.

Robin Soderling's clash with second seed Rafael Nadal was another of the
matches washed away in Saturday's deluge.

Nadal has said that he will come to play at the Swedish Open in Båstad if Söderling manages to dump him out of the competition at this early stage. Play is set to begin at the Swedish Open this Saturday.

Football

Brommapojkarna finally moved in to their home arena at Grimsta in northern Stockholm on Sunday. And the team that has propped up the Allsvenskan table for much of the season registered only their second win of the campaign with a 1-0 scoreline against GAIS from Gothenburg.

Jan-Erik Berg scored his first goal of the season with a left-foot screamer into the top-left corner in first half injury time.

Earlier in the week Brommapojkarna had succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at Elfsborg. Last year's champions now have a three point margin at the head of the table, followed by Hammarby, Halmstad and Kalmar.

Full table here.

Toulouse have signed Swedish defender Jon Jonsson from Elfsborg, the French club's coach Elie Baup said Friday.

The 23-year-old's signature is the third of the close season for Toulouse, who will play in the Champions League next season having finished third in the French league.

Already joined are goalkeeper Rudy Riou from Istres and forward Andre-Pierre Gignac from Lorient.

Ice Hockey

There have been unconfirmed reports that Michael Nylander is on his way to the Edmonton Oilers. Canadian sports radio station Team 1260 broke the news but did not reveal any contractual details.

Nylander was released as a free agent by the New York Rangers at the end of the season.
