i think her name is spelled Kadefors, not KadeRfors.

but anyway, hard to get these foreign names straight.

the point is that many people think they are "artists" or "writers" and if all of them became parasites of the state, who would pay the bills?

it takes a kind of arrogance to expect others to work and support you.

but this woman is guilty of that. where is her solidarity? should we others have to clean up the s**t because she thinks she is a writer!

let her face reality and get a job, it would be good for her and maybe she would grow up and find new territory for her muse.

or all of us can claim to be writers and live off subsidies, how's that!

If the arts are to be judged purely on thier financial cost to society then both arts and the society suffer.
Funding of the arts is not like funding a small business. It is very much more difficult to make a judgement about the value for money such funding generates.
If you are only concerned with costs to society then consider how much tax succsesful artists pay compared to other safer yet less potentially lucrative pastimes.
If you are concerned however with enriching ones experience before the grim reaper comes a calling then costs to the arts are small fry compared to how much it costs to keeping afloat one naval vessel.
I dont really understand why some people get so upset about apparent living off the state when it comes to Artists. This way of living is actually more difficult and less rewarding than just giving up and getting a job and since the begining of financial systems artists have needed benefactors of one sort or another.
Wheres your soul? Is there anything in human experience that doesnt come with a balance sheet now a days?

Sara Kaderfors is a good writer though. She has written the excellent Sandor slash Ida, which is very popular among kids.

I'd say this assessment was spot on, and at least I'm posting under my real name (anonymous!)

Why should the government fund people who apparantly lack the ability to produce anything of commercial value? The argument that it could potentially deny us a literary genius is as farcical as the old chestnut that abortion could deny us a Beethoven.

The cynic in me would label our anonymous friend as an aspiring writer who wants to "go on churning out guff that nobody will pay to read" (to borrow a quote). '

My vote is that the money is put to some good use instead and if you can't write then perhaps you should be looking for another job. Come back and try again once you have a bit of life experience and something intersting to write about.

You're no Norberg, but you're pretty good at warping the truth for your own purposes. Your summary of the literature debate is way off, as one would expect from a neolib's understanding of non monetary values.
