Join The Local’s readers’ panel

The Local is not responsible for the content of blog comments.

Would you like to be a member of our readers’ panel?

The Local is looking for eight people — four foreigners living in Sweden and four native Swedes — to answer a few short questions a month about life in Sweden.

We’re not looking for Nobel prize winners in literature, just people with a genuine interest in Swedish news and society and who are willing to share their experiences of living here

The only people who need not apply are the anonymous and the camera shy: we will want to publish your name, photo and some brief personal details.

If you are interested in being a member of our readers’ panel, please drop me a line at paul.omahony@thelocal.se.

I look forward to welcoming you to The Panel.

Hi Paul, I am from Northern Ireland and moved here late 2006, I have a home in Sollentuna with my sambo,, (expecting our first child next April.)
Funny that you have launched this project, as few days ago I started a thread “So it’s been two years” to find out just how life has been for recent arrivals. Not to much interest I’m afraid as of yet. I am an engineer who travels all over the country so can see the difference between Stockholm and Jokkmokk.
I know quite a few people who want to move here but you know about all the red tape and so on ,
This idea can only be good for the Locallers and the would be Locallers.
I am 43 and would be happy to help should you wish

  2. Patrick Young Says:

Lived in Sweden since 1998. Teacher at Stockholm University and have two sons, 14 and 11. Been a youth basketball coach. Divorced from my swedish wife. My work life is crazy, ex-wife and I are both research professors and have labs next to each other. However, our boss is currently living with my ex-wife. I have a lot of experience with the unique features of swedish relationships, work differences, students and kids. Read The Local all the time and hear the gossip from the grad students.

Hejhej. Jag är Kevin. I’m 20 from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’ve been staying in Stockholm since November 2007 with a friend of mine from Facebook. 10months seemed to have gone by so fast. Ive enjoyed many fun times here with friends but also many boring, cold and wet nights as well. Im planning to head home by New Year’s but i’ll never forget my time in Sverige. I would love to participate and be a part of the panel.

  7. Mary Uhlin Says:

    Hej Paul,
I moved to Sweden in 2005 from Dallas, TX as my Swedish husband came back for work. We live in Täby, have a 7 year old daughter, and are very active in suburban life here. Naturally, I have a lot of input about life in Sweden. I do really love living here but I still analyze the contrasts of Swedish life with that I know from the world around us. I myself am a professional that is well traveled and lived in London for many years previously.

Would love to particpate in your panel.

    Mary Uhlin
