Because it’s the most exhilarating adrenaline rush and narcotic-free high you will ever survive. That’s the answer to questions about why to jump out of a perfectly good airplane at 4000m (12,500ft). Yes, I’m talking about skydiving.

For you whuffos (skydiver speak derived from, “Jump out of a perfectly good airplane, what for”) no literally master could describe the multifaceted thrill and experience of a skydive. In all honestly, it took several jumps for me to understand what seasoned skydivers were trying to describe to me about what “Flying your body” meant. So, yes, it’s much more than falling.
We’re headed up to our DZ (that’s skydiver speak drop zone or where we have our club). That’s in Gryttjom near Tierp (about an hour north of Stockholm.) WWW.skydive.se is our club’s website (We’re Stockholm’s Skydiving Club ) If you ever thought of trying it out, come up and jump a tandem jump. If you’re really serious, send me a message and I can work you a 200kr discount.
And if you’re super serious…sign up for a course and let’s jump together.
Blue skies. I’m there now (literally as I hit publish)

Good lord!
(grips arms of chair until knuckles turn white, then breathes into a paper bag.)
Well, I hope you enjoy your jump. Don’t forget about the gravity.

Got in the first jump…took care of kids, now 20 minutes to the sunset lift. Only 2 jumps today, but I’m thrilled.

I’ve finally found someone crazy enough to sign up for a jump with me. We will jump for the first time on sat. sept. 26. Our dz is Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. My granddaughter is now showing an interest in joining us. What a bonding experience.
Wish us luck.

That’s wonderful Christina. You two are both adventurous and ready to try something new. I hope your granddaughter gets inspired to join you. That would be such an inspiring memory for her to carry through life and I couldn’t agree more about the bonding experience.
If you get the jump filmed I hope you can post a link for us to see. You’re going to love it.
Have an amazing jump. Not even the sky is the limit.

Thanks BB
How long have you been skydiving? Maybe you can give us some tips. I have visions of getting stuck in a tree or something worse, a house top. We have also been kidding about wearing depends as we are afraid of peeing our pants.
Where in Sweden do you live? I was born and raised in Stockholm.

I’ve been skydiving for 4 years. The only advice you need is to let go of everything except enjoying the ride. The instructor you’ll jump with is very experienced and there won’t be any opportunities to get stuck in a tree (you jump out over the dropzone and the parachute is exceptionally flyable so you’re land pretty much exactly where everyone will be waiting for you. I’ve never heard of a single story of anyone peeing their pants, so don’t put yourself into diapers yet;-)
I lived on Söder for 15+ years but now we’ve moved just north of the city for more space.

Hey, despite my abject fear re: exiting an aeroplane in flight, your Blatte Banner reminds me of one of my earliest, happiest memories.
It was a warm summer day. The sky was brilliant blue, and the world was verdant. I was on the receiving end of the activity that you are performing in the banner. I can remember being completely delighted by my short flights. My father’s face looking up at me was filled with joy. It was really the only time that I ever saw him at peace with the world. Thank you for reminding me of such as happy moment in time.

@Gus. I hope the small person we photoshopped out of this shot remembers it with the same fondness.
