Thinking about Turkey, Minarets, Sweden Democrats & Carl Bildt

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Not so long ago our Foreign Minister Carl Bildt was expressing himself positively about Turkey’s prospects of entering the European Union and such an addition could make for an even stronger Europe. The major hurdle still seems to be the Kurdish question and more reform action from the government of Turkey:

http://news.google.co.uk/news?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1W1ADFA_sv&q=Carl%20Bildt%20on%20Turkey

Today, in spite of having an EU president who appears to be hostile to the idea of Turkey’s entry into the European Union the issue continues to be somewhere near the top of the agenda not on the back burner – Turkey after all being the country in Europe with the second largest army in NATO – in my opinion could (would?) be better within the Union than outside of it. And then there’s the crux of the matter – granted that there’s the general Christian character of European civilisation and culture as a major consideration – ay there’s the rub – that it would or should be unlikely – and in my opinion unreasonable to expect that Turkey be asked to contribute troops to Obama’s offensive war in Afghanistan. Such sensitive issues are and will forever be discussable, given Turkey’s Islamic identity

Once there was this kind of question:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Morocco+to+join+EU%3F&

Over here, in the past few weeks the Local and the rest of the Swedish media has featured news and opinion items about the rise in popularity of the Sweden Democrats Party ( more than 5%) and Sweden Democrats’ attitude to Islam and their general fear – reasonable or unreasonable – of the Islamization of Sweden and outside of Sweden, other paranoid views about Europe’s possible national incarnation into Eurabia, even as Christmas is almost here.

More importantly, here’s an interesting article by Bassam Tibi :

 http://www.meforum.org/2047/islamists-approach-europe

Also of some relevance is an article  to be found in Spring 2009

A wicked article in the summer of 2008:

And then back to 1994 when the doyen wrote this:

Obama’s Xmas message, soon to come

Monday, December 14th, 2009

So what’s up with Obama the Noble Peace Prize War Lord & President of the United States of America?

What’s he doing for his Fatherland or for the Great Africa?

What did he have to say about the Congo when he defended and justified his wars as a token of accepting the Peace Prize?

No doubt he will soon be issuing his  Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all men Christmas Message from the White House, and wishing everybody, especially dollar strapped Americans &  their Iranian counterparts a Happy New Year…..

“En Sång till modet”.

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Last night my wife and I and a few other friends walked over to Hörnet which is in Enskede to have a great time, and some wine… Among the comedians and artists who entertained us we had the pleasure of listening to the inimitable Stefan Ringbom’s repertoire for the evening. It was unadulterated  nostalgia, covering the period 1968 – when it all started, some say at the Sorbonne and extending through the Vietnam War and the seventies: he ripped the songs off  one after the other culminating in Vysotsky’s “Wolf Hunt” /Vargjakten ( all in Swedish)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM-xIuPBxEI

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364×2975862

After which  we all sang – with him – the grand finale: Mikael Wiehe’s “En Sång till modet”. May I remind you of what you already know: Mikael Wiehe won the Martin Luther King Prize in 2005 and the lyrics of this song are wholly in that spirit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ywhPCuAN4Y

Bottom line of course is, that in speaking of diversity – and tolerance  – as Mahatma Gandhi said, WE could be the change that we would like to see in others – in this world.

Here’s a translation of that song:”En Sång till modet” / “A Song for Courage.”

 A SONG FOR COURAGE
by Mikael Wiehe /translated by Erik Stinus

This is a song for courage,
a little simple song
to all who trust the day will break
and end the night so long.
This is a song for courage,
a tune to help us dare,
though some may think it is absurd
I sing it: we are here.

This is a song for courage,
for smiles and joy and hope,
to all who trust the strength of love
that can with hatred cope;
to all who unite and stand up
to never drop their case;
to all who know how hard it is
and yet will say their “yes”.

This is a song for courage
to those who dare to see,
to those who won’t be silenced,
but talk straight of things to be;
to those who are building bridges;
to those who open doors,
believing that what should be done
can mankind do, of course.

This is a song for ev’ryone
refusing to give up,
for those who keep on fighting hard
though bitter was their cup,
for those who still dare to long for
what they have never seen,
for those who do not bend or bow
but stand there, proud and keen.

This is a song for courage,
it is from me to you,
a little simple song to sing,
my hope is in it too.
So guard it well, learn it, hum it
- and if you do, it’s bound
to grow and spread, this simple tune
the whole wide World around.

Subjectively: I love America.

Friday, December 11th, 2009

( If I were We SWEDEN, I would be all of us…..

Subjectively: I love America.

But I don’t like Obama and Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize speech.

The profound arrogance of the man and his utter contempt for us all and for the Muslim people who he pretended to be reaching out to, in Cairo, not so long ago, before doubling the US troop levels in Afghanistan!

Check the entries for Thursday 10th & Friday 11th of December 2009

One brother to another: ( Cornel West sounds….

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Cornel+West&search_type=&aq=f

I saw it all so clearly as Barack delivered his magnum opus on TV from Oslo and now I can’t unsee what I saw deep into him as a person – I saw him, “like I see through the water
that runs down my drain”:

http://www.bobdylan.com/#/songs/masters-war

Just after it was announced that  he had  won the Peace Prize he had this to say:

 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/09/obama-nobel-speech-video_n_315324.html

 At Oslo, the text:

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/12/barack-obama-nobel-peace-prize-speech-text.html

At Oslo this is as he said it : watch:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Obama%27s+Nobel+Peace+Prize+Speech+December+10%2C+2009+%28Part+1&search_type=&aq=f

When I saw Obama speaking last night, I finally got to understand what an English friend meant, when he said that he saw Jiddu Krishnamurti’s face consumed with such deep hatred  as he delivered one of his talks in Switzerland. What I saw in Obama was not hatred, but self-assured arrogance and contempt for those who were listening to what they imagine is the prince of peace’ powers of persuasive oratory to make what is wrong, right. What was he trying to do – to justify the choice of the Noble Peace committee – and to whom was he addressing those idealistic and empty and sometimes contradictory philosophical platitudes with a body-talk and facial expressions that reflected  arrogance and certitude but neither compassion nor compunction, or apology about the mega civilian deaths,  not even for a brief moment. Brash and cocky he was and cocksure and arrogant throughout as he rambled on from one  generalized profundity to another but  studiously side -stepping  and entirely avoiding the germane issue of  the wars he is waging  and what the troops of which he is commander-in-chief  are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq. One can only imagine that John McCain or Bill Clinton or indeed George W. Bush himself would have been infinitely more humble, more human, a little more relaxed, more charming  ( he wasn’t at all)  and more humbled by such a prize. He was busy being the profound American statesman, lecturing as a visionary at the Nobel Peace Academy of Oslo

http://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1R2GGLL_enSE351&=&q=Obama+refuses+King+of+Norway

As Zbigniew Brzezinski had once observed, it was not the Taliban that took down the Twin Towers eight years ago  and as Ted Health  also once observed in the British House of Commons – when Mrs Thatcher and Mr. Ronald Reagan had bombed Colonel Muammer al- Qadhafi -  whilst they were still at it, why hadn’t they bombed the ideological and  the known financial and logistic headquarters of the IRA in Chicago and Philadelphia?

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/

Now they’re busy keeping the idea of  USAma Bin Ladin alive  for a credulous public gaze, to enable them to go out on another wild goose chase looking for him. Last time he resurrected was to help George Bush win a second term in office

Needless to say Mr. Obama does not  breathe a word of any early withdrawal from Afghanistan  and it was on such a premise, based on his earlier talk that the Peace Prize award was probably predicated. He is now doing  and saying the exact opposite of his  pre-election rhetoric and today John McCain stands out as more honest  and more forthright than Mr. Obama who is probably practicing the doctrines of “Taqiyya “and  “Kitman” which he could have  learned as a  Muslim youngster in Indonesia or later, as part of US foreign policy strategy, that “The first thing to be sacrificed during war is truth.”

Well I have good news for him. I assure Mr. Obama that Iran is much better at that game than he could possibly hope to be during his presidency. True, the war that Iraq imposed on Iran came to an end because the Iranians ran out of ammunition, yet Iran was never completely isolated  whilst Ali Akbar Velayati was foreign minister.

Heaven help us all – and the only reservations I have about Mr. Obama’s war speech in Oslo, is that it could be but a preamble for  justifying  war against Iran  - if he is indeed brave enough to take such a decision, having already said that he will do everything in his power  to prevent Iran going nuclear.

Perhaps if I had read his speech instead of watching him deliver it , it would have made a great difference, but the effrontery he  delivered and the pompous rhetorical tone of its delivery ! Where was the humility? Who was he talking to – apart from the idiots in the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Oslo? Who and what was he representing? WHO  was he talking to ? Certainly not to the Almighty and certainly not to us in that his usually raspy  voice  which sounds so much like the voice of the Accuser. Is that how he’s going to justify genocide or homicide to Rev. Jeremiah Wright or plead for mercy in his imagined  “ judgment hall of Christ ” ?

His idiot Norwegians in the Noble Peace Prize Committee of Oslo  had probably hoped that the Prize would mellow  down  his aggressive US  ancestral war hand going back to Korea and Vietnam. Well he had the opportunity but has now blown it

 away

“Extraordinary effort to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between people” my foot! When has he/did he ever  – after all these days in office, ever call for a peace conference with the Taliban?

He can’t defeat the Taliban, because all Afghans including the US puppets are TALIBAN  – as long as there is the foreign presence of US  and NATO troops  or Russians in their God-given Land. It’s easy for Taliban to change uniform  and become  Afghan national security today and revert to being Taliban tomorrow……. Similarly it would be an even greater mistake to invade Iran….Mr. Obama.

Then a few days ago, later, announcing the surge  he raised  false hopes about starting troop withdrawals in 18 months time.  Now forever  – or  as John McCain had said previously , as long as it takes seems more like it:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rlz=1R2GGLL_enSE351&q=US+to+stay+in+Afghanistan

It was the wrong tone and a speech that was deeply flawed in many respects, some of which I shall point out  a little further on, in a later posting, as in their entirety  even the most obvious ones that stick you in the eye, and the hypocrisies  are too numerous to take up here, now.  We know that he is known to be a smart alec,  but who does he think he was lecturing for all of thirty seven minutes, when he should have just grabbed his prize and disappeared  from view – maybe taken Airforce One direct to Kabul.  He must have been addressing himself, primarily, wholly addressing himself, from himself to his self, his alter ego and not to the dimwits  who saw it fit  to award this new, born-again neo-con their Peace Prize.

And now, lets wait for him to start  pontificating about  Jerusalem , where he prayed to the Almighty  with a  white kippah on his head and wrote this note  which he stuck into the Wailing wall :

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D924TL4G0&show_article=1

The same Hussein Obama who now wants to give half of Jerusalem to the Arabs?

 http://www.israpundit.com/2008/

Makes you wonder, how would he like to be remembered?

In the long run, these are not peripheral European considerations/speculations

In the long run, these are not peripheral European considerations or speculations

Another safety valve:

 http://www.mg.co.za/article/2009-11-16-african-immigrants-drift-toward-latin-america

 http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120682797&ft=1&f=1004

With Tony Blair turning Catholic, the ideological war between Catholicism and Protestantism should not be under-estimated. Catholicism represents centralised authority in much the same way that Shia Islam with its Marja-i-taqlid and Mujtahids also represents centralised authority and  in an age of uncertainty ( even as to whether to take or not to take the vaccination against Swine flu) some of the otherwise rudderless people of Europe are in dire need of an authority  – a moral authority to decide over their lives in these post Matthew Arnold times:

 http://www.victorianweb.org/authors/arnold/writings/doverbeach.html

 and this is their song:

http://www.bobdylan.com/#/songs/when-you-gonna-wake

Eventually the warring Christian  parties could get together to delimit the possibility of an Eurabia  with Islamic religion and ideology  as its new persuasion at the heart of Modern Europe – an outrage – sticking like a mote in the eye of  the Christian  soldiers and which we must face honestly  – the children of Christ do not want to see minarets  rising in their hundreds over the horizon and standing taller than the spires of St. Peter and St. Paul’s Cathedral. The philosophy is still, “ a stitch in time saves nine”  Hence the Crusades are still being fought over there in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and soon enough against the upstart exporter of  Revolutionary Islam,  the Republic of Iran. And to liberate the holy places from  those who make claims  on such holy places  and those who want to control the Temple Mount that does not belong to them.

 http://www.dailyalert.org/

The battle for the minds and souls and  the political destiny of Africa, is being fought between missionaries of Islam and Christianity  – in Africa. Islam has already conquered all of North Africa  and the Dhimmi  Copts in Egypt are having a hard time. Islam which is presently blowing Southwards faster than the Sahara desert seems to be getting the upper hand as a FITRA – a more natural religion , permitting as it does a polygamy which appeals to both the physical and spiritual aspects of some people’s  hu-man nature that special sense of family responsibility  which at the present moment seems closer to the spirit of  Africa South of the Sahara …..

The main problem that Islam is likely to encounter in Africa -  is strong opposition from Christian missionaries and their flock  who are busy assessing the situation and taking appropriate measures, in due consultation with people like this one:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1R2GGLL_enSE351&=&q=Lamin+Sanneh

Apart from Christian missionary opposition the  main problem that Muslim missionaries  are likely to encounter in this battle  will be  that presented by what Peter calls ” The Brotherhood of the Grape”   – the Brotherhood which still provides  strong  cultural and traditional resistance   to the Islamic  prohibition of alcohol as haram. Whilst for Protestantism and Pentecostalism it is an essential part of the Holy Eucharist; in Roman Catholicism, the bread represents the living body of Christ –  and as for the wine, the officiating priest  and not the laity drinks it. Therefore proselytising  will be an uphill task in places like  the Congo – especially since e.g. in Aime Cesaire’s “ A season in the Congo” the best political advice given to the leader is that he build a brewery, to keep the masses nicely inebriated and obliviously happy.

 http://www.shaykhabdalqadir.com/content/articles/Art093_11052009.html

The issue of Islamophobia is still a topic which will not be easily blown away – as long as Turkey stands outside of the EU with someone like the Jesuit–educated Herman Van Rompuy  as  our new  EU president  - one who is  perhaps unlike the Pope less opposed – or perhaps even more opposed to Turkey’s EU membership than His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI . It will never happen unless –  so  says Van Rompuy, “unless certain conditions are met”.

There is of course the most ideal of  “certain conditions” and in an age of miracles that would  have been  the miraculous possibility of all the Muslims in Turkey becoming Christians  overnight, say on the night of the Pentecost  – but that  sort of mass-conversion of the type that took place with the Khazars is not very likely to take place  with the Turkish Muslims – and other Muslims, not ordinarily, for two reasons:

    1. Islam says that Jesus Christ was  Muslim – even if his mother was a Jew.

2   Islam says  that  the Prophet Moses was a Muslim too.

Then as to the rest of We Sweden  outside of the Islamic pale – and this must most naturally include  all of  the S-we-den Democrats, who must all therefore be asking , then who are we?  Are we therefore ispso facto, all Muslims too?

 http://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1R2GGLL_enSE351&=&q=Khazars

And should Turkey which has the second  largest army in Europe – and a formidable air force too  – should Turkey be admitted into the EU, the issue of Islamophobia and Eurabia  will increase in intensity  as it will be more vigorously debated in the media and in the parliamentary houses throughout the EU. The main fear is the entry of Islamic Turkey as “ a Trojan Horse”.

In my view Turkey will either take steps to get closer  by improving her record on Human Rights and the Kurdish question or – will take steps to contradistinguish herself  and in so doing might take additional steps to ally herself ( himself/ itself)  more strongly with  its Muslim neighbours over whom she exercised dominion during the great Ottoman Empire days when all the Muslim nations – were one nation and  one Ummah and integral parts of the Ottoman Empire  which is now fragmented into many independent countries, Kingdoms, Republics and Sheikhdoms, and  a few unholy dictatorships, since Lawrence of Arabia allegedly inspired the Arabs to revolt against their Turkish bosses  and even as the Arabs of today – some of whom are said to be descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael already have 22 Arab states  and are hell bent in trying to make the 23rd Arab state out of the spiritual and physical descendants of  Abraham’s beloved  son Isaac/ Yitzhak  also known as Israel.

Indeed,  Islamology Professor Jan Hjärpe who usually takes a sociological approach when introducing Islam to the non- initiated, often begins his lectures by  telling his Swedish audience that up till 1919 or thereabouts Sweden used to pay the  Jizya tax to Ottoman Turkey,  in order to ensure  Swedish ships safe passage on the high seas….next thing you know, the Somali pirates could be demanding that  those who fish in their backwaters pay a similar tax to guarantee them free passage… and no Brit dares stray into Iranian territorial waters these days, especially now that things are heating up even further with this news just coming in :

Islamophobia is still topical and after watching the STV2 programme  EXISTENS  which took to task the Christian newspaper “Världen idag”  for “Cultural racism” (of the 3rd of December  2009)  I’ve decided to re-post some earlier posts that I had taken away  accidentally but which are still of topical relevance   and will soon re-appear in the  exact order in which they first appeared:

A Problem  that currently persists : Some people think that Sweden is in Switzer-land whilst Others think that we are part of the SUDAN :

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=Switzerland+rejects+minaret

The Swiss have resoundingly voted against more minarets being erected in Switzerland.

57%

The Swiss have said what’s on their minds and we cannot help but wonder what we (Sweden) would say today should such a referendum be held here, considering that there are some 400,000 Muslims that are part and parcel of the Swedish cultural, social and body politic.

Could We Sweden also say the same thing as the Swiss – considering the propaganda winds that Sweden Democrats and other Islamo-sceptics could be likely to blow against the rising tide of Islam in Sweden – a tide that has still not been measured by secret ballot?

That We Sweden are a lot more tolerant than that is the conclusion that can only be put to the test  and verified by such a referendum – but that is unlikely to ever take place here…..

Foreign Minister Carl Bildt to our honour:

 http://www.thelocal.se/23562/20091130/

After watching the STV debate in which Lena Einhorn participated and in which she intimated that Muslims were now the New Jews  in Europe ( which raises the question  of who and where are their Nazis) I should like to add the following comments from ADL whose avowed aim is “ To stop the defamation of the Jewish people… to secure justice and fair treatment for all” and  in this day and age of the fear of a possible “Eurabia” at the heart of Europe

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rlz=1R2GGLL_enSE351&q=Eurabia

or of Europe being overpowered -  a demographic nightmare dreamed by alarmists and dreamed  by those with genuine even if exaggerated fears of  Christian Europe being  subsumed into an overarching Eurabia, the ADL’s very strongly worded statement fits hand in glove with Carl Bildt’s overall stand so that after that debacle & great hullabaloo about stolen human organs and a new blood libel of the Jews, Sweden’s Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and the  pro-Israel ethos are again in essential agreement about human values as the ADL statement and Bildt’s statement are  made in the same spirit: please read it:
