Masquerade & Carmen

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

The Local’s website has been messing with me, telling me that I’m offline when I’m not. Well well. I had the best weekend, even though that the situation with my stomach is the same. I also forgot to take the Omeprazol or whatever it’s called yesterday so it might be worse. However, I’ve laughed a lot this weekend. On Friday my friends and I went to a masquerade, usually I love to dress up but this time I settled with a fancy masque and a LBD. I was quite pleased with the result but I think some people thought I was dressed as Lady GaGa! My friends were dressed as David Bowie’s alter ego Ziggy Stardust, ’space princess’ and Alice in the wonderland.

On Saturday I went to the Amnesty academy at Sensus having a course about Amnesty’s Dignity campaign which lasted the whole day, thereafter some of my colleagues and I went to the pub Carmen. Carmen is absolutely not a fancy bar, it’s one of those ‘cheap’ and unpretenious bars, but it’s a perfect place when you want to take a glass and talk without getting disturbed by loud music. How many places are there that doesn’t play any music at all? I must say that I’m so happy that I’m able to have such a relaxed relationship to those that I work with. They’re amazing and I’d hate to work with people that I couldn’t stand with as the colleagues are such a huge part to the job.

Anyways, I hope that my best friend hasn’t fallen asleep by her study books so that she can meet me for a ‘fika’ later tonight. Why isn’t there a translation in English for that word?

Another weekend

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Sometimes calm weekends when nothing really happens are what you need the most. Then one realizes the need to reload and to melt what has happened during the past week. Except from Friday evening I haven’t done much at all. The visit at IKEA resulted in a new coverlet, rug and a coffee-table to my room. A long with my new pillows from H&M’s new Home showroom my room is a lot more cosier and nicer to be in. I’ll try to take a photo of my room tonight and then I could upload it here. And I really enjoyed the Home showroom, I must say that I was really amazed and impressed by all the special designed stuff they had. When my next pay check comes in October I think I’ll go there and buy a bit more!

When we came home from IKEA we ate dinner and then we watched The Pianist. This is one of my favourite films of all time, Adrien Brody illustrates the main character Wladek’s opinions and feelings perfectly just with his body language. It’s a film I never could become tired of and watch all over again, because even though you know the beginning, story and end it’s always exciting to watch it. Personally I have always been interested by the holocaust, I have no clue why, but I have read so many books, films, documentaries etc. about the subject.

Today also was a nice day, I bought the new book Knit Two by Kate Jacobs and a notebook. I think I really miss to write on paper, if you know what I mean. Then my boyfriend and I took a walk with his dog.  But now I have to go as I must cook dinner tonight. Talk to you soon.

Happy Birthday Filippa!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

You can’t imagine the feeling I’ve got right now, my grades are set and it’s only a week left until I graduate. Feels so good! Finally I don’t have anything specific that I need to do so now I have time to have a personal life! To hang out with my friends for instance.

Anyhow, now I’m sitting in my friend Filippa’s kitchen who is host for her birthday dinner!  She’s turning 18 so she’s the youngest in our gang. Now Linn is popping up the champagne (or sparkled wine really, but who cares…) so now I should be a bit more social.

Marilyn and I

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

marilyn_monroe_laughing

So far the long weekend has been awesome. I’ve been to  student parties two days in a row, that’s always nice! On Wednesday I followed my boyfriend to his childhood friend’s party which had a theme of “famous couples”. We were Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, have to put up some pictures later – I was almost a copy of her! Yesterday one of my best friends had her party and I chose to have my converse so I could dance all night! So, two days of pleasure, but that’s over now. Unfortunately. I have to continue to write my social studies essay… But not so much left :) . Should get started now! Talk to you later and then I should upload som pics from the party nights!

Oh god, Marilyn was so gorgeous! My friends sometimes say that I’m alike her and I’m honoured to have any similarities with her beautiful look!

P.S. Readers, could you please improve on leaving comments? :)

Another weekend has just gone far, far, far away

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Sunday evening and I still haven’t started on any of my three essays. They are due very soon so I should perhaps panic? But to my defence, I can’t do so much anyway, I’m waiting for answers from a Zambian teacher (for the religion essay) and I have to do research before I even can type the first words for the history essay and the social essay. Have to say that I think I am rather smart, I’ve chosen to have the same subject for the latter essays. Everything becomes much better then – and faster done.

Instead of writing essays I wish that the weekend would be longer, but who doesn’t?  My weekend has been great. On Friday my boyfriend and I went out to take a glass before we went to the cinema to see “Män som hatar kvinnor”. I’ve read the book (which was in a way a negative thing as I knew what was going to happen next, nothing really suprised me.) so I can say that the film is a bit different than the book. Or not so different, the thing is that they have changed some parts of the story. However, in conclusion it was pretty good.

And last night I went to my friend Emelie’s skiva and before that my other friend Elin and I ate at our friend Jenny’s place. A lot of friends mentioned there. The skiva was not as planned (Emelie and her friends was suppose to have it at a boat a day earlier at first but it was to expensive, so they had to have it with a class from another school at Viper Room) but it was really fun! The company is everything, I’d say.

Today would have been my BIG study day. Instead my boyfriend and I stayed in bed longer than planned and then we went out eatingice cream in the sun. I LOVE the new weather!
Have to start my research now… Talk to you later!

xoxo
