An Alien in Sweden

Time is flying by…

I realised that I will be moving to Sweden in less than one year. That might seem like a long time to many but to me time is of the essence. I have so much to do and learn before I go I just wish that I did not lead such a busy and hectic life.

Each time I go to Sweden I realise that I yearn for it more and more. Just the simple things like taking a drive to the Airport and seeing all the scenery, the shape of the houses and even the road signs is all so different. I’m now fully confident with the reading and writing part but the vocal side needs a LOT of work. I am not going to move to a country where I sound like a thirteen year old schoolboy trying to converse in the most basic of languages. I know that I have an advantage where most Swedes speak English but it’s just not the same. So in order to brush up on my oral skills I am going to start looking for Swedish lessons in London for the next year at least this will keep me in check.

Another thing that I love is the food! My word it’s had an effect on me, even my shopping habits have changed and instead of a slice of toast and a black coffee here in London I am now beginning to have Smorgasbord for breakfast each day and feel like a king with the feast before me knowing that my fellow Londoners are downing Red Bull and a snack bar ;)

Speaking of food I visited Annelies family this weekend. Her sister prepared this meal, it’s like a big sandwich..actually it’s not its more like a work of art. I don’t know the name for it but it’s bread with lots of meat and fruit on and cheese and god it’s lovely! I just wished that I had the recipe here as it really is one of the most amazing and delicious things I have ever tasted. No doubt there are lots of Swedes giggling reading this as they know what it is, I really have no idea so if anyone can name this delicious feast then please let me know!
