Well in five weeks time I will be in Sweden for one week. I’m planning to take an extra suitcase and pack as much as I can in so I then have room to take even more essentials when I move in September.
I have begun a mass clearout of what I own and it’s about 90% clothes. With the exception of my mobile phone and computers I won’t be taking any electrical goods with me. It’s a bit pointless as to ship it over is the same price as buying a new one.
One thing that has been a little strange is thinking of how much downsizing I have done in the past ten years since moving from Bristol to London. When I made the first move I had to hire a van to move all my things down. Now I can practically fit all I own in a car!
I’m in the process of packing things up into boxes and will then ship over the rest of the items I need around October/November time. I will need to take a lot with me but not so much that I have things I do not need.
Over the years I have become a rather experienced traveller, but going travelling and moving to a new country is a totally different ballgame!
Going through the same thing at the moment, moving out to Sweden properly in 5 weeks :p and depressingly, all the clothes I need fit into a 15kg bag!
Finding it cheaper at the moment to take all that I “need” on the plane with me and then drive back later next year to pick the rest up in the car rather than paying an extortionate amount in shipping, when we can get a long driving trip, a visit to family and a trip around a few countries for half the price :p

Where are you moving from? I’ve got two trips planned before I move so will be taking over as much as I can and coming back with an empty suitcase. I find it ironic that I can recall the days when they would allow you 30kg!
I’m in the process of speaking to some shipping companies to move the remainder of my things over in October. A driving trip was on the agenda but jus think it’s easier to ship it out

Moving from Lincs in England on the 28th August. Already done the innocuously drop piles of clothing with the other half :p
I have hand luggage and two hold bags that comes to about 40kilos so thats more than I need to take the essentials and some reading material to keep me sane!
Was looking at shipping, but the prices were a lil out of my budget, and by the looks of it, the trip back to collect my things (which will all fit in the back of an estate to be honest O,o) Is turning into an excuse for the inlaws to come back and inspect England!

My partner is indeed Swedish, we met on World of Warcraft O,o He’s set me up a job with one of his friends so thats sorted ^^
Would be nice to have someone to chat with about the fun of moving and the experiences settling in and so on =)
