What about TV?

Well it’s just over 24 hours now until my long journey to Sweden begins. From the heart of the English Countryside to the glades of Norrkoping.

People keep asking me what I am going to miss the most. It’s a very interesting question. Beer, food, vinegar, the daily tabloids are all part of what I will miss but if there is one thing above all its television. No not the routine daily crap that seems to emit from every pore of BBC or ITV but more of the documentaries and wildlife shows that I have come to know and love the past decade.

I’m not knocking Swedish TV. But it’s not that good unless you can understand the language or have cable. It does have its pluses including the current showing of my favourite show in history, Twin Peaks, but it also has its downside namely endless re-runs of Two and a Half Men and any show involving Danny Dyer.

People who have read my views on Pirate Bay on this and my private blog will know that I cannot tolerate online piracy but…I am thinking of doing something a little bit illegal here! *shock horror*

There are many websites such as www.tvcatchup.com that show live streaming legal UK TV, but only if you are in the UK which is due to the rather stupid BBC licence fee that I strongly object too. But there must be a way that I can watch it in Sweden.

Maybe mask my IP address? Of course I will pay a monthly fee if need be but only if I can watch the TV without it buffering every 20 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem?

See my comment on one of your previou posts about vinegar.

Regarding the tv, you don’t have to do anything illegal. Just get yourself a proxy server service from Expat surfer (google it) and you can watch UK tv to your heart’s content. I got it a while back, but to be honest, can’t be arsed to use it most of the time, so have missed a lot of stuff like watching the freaks who audition for x-factor. (You will find most episodes of programmes only stay available for a certain amount of days, then you can’t get it).
