Yuletide – (to use the international spelling) a time of joy, happiness, family…and boundless consumption.
As a conscientious consumer is a tough time to be out there amongst the crowds ticking off the items on Santa’s list in a bid to put big smiles on little faces and fill up those spaces under the glittering (incandescent lamp-lit) Christmas tree.
Our global environment demands that we skip presents altogether; our patriotic economic conscience requires us to go out and spend, spend, spend to ease the plight of retailers badly hit by over a year of economic hard times.
I have managed to get a peek at my own Christmas list and I have it on good authority that my little climate-conscious packages will contain a pair of slippers, a dressing gown and a pair of gloves – no, I’m not 65, nor, I am assured, is my family having a joke on my behalf, but I will at least be warm when the ice age blows in….

Our family is not exchanging gifts at all and you what it feels like Christmas should be-just family and friends having a nice Christmas dinner together and enjoying each others company. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
