I loved this. Its so true to most 'mericans. I know that there are people out there who dont see the world this way but most do. If you find offense to this then you dont understand the point of the article. Its not to bash on americans, its to try and change our way of thinkin.

While I share many of the author's perspectives, he goes over the top too many times for his points to be taken seriously. Usually, simple is better, elegant is more intelligible, and killing with kindness a more sympathetic -- and effective -- way to deal with stupidity than just trying to shout it down.

Also, while as guests we should be respectful of Sweden or wherever we Americans may take up, c'mon: every society has its failings and these need criticism if for no other reason than to advise the locals. Idolizing any culture produces problematic blindspots.

Hi Paul. Of course I'm "being very judgmental, especially your choice in pictures for this article." I'm also being funny. This is not a cultural thesis, it's entertainment.

I kind of have to take the approach of "lumping all Americans into this mold of what you think we are" because I don't have the time to describe each American individually. That's why I use terms like "24%" or "many."

I appreciate you taking the time to read it and leave some comments, but perhaps one of the other ten million blogs on the Internet may be more to your liking. If I wanted to apologize for everything I say, I would spend more time in America where someone will find a reason to be offended no matter what you do. I spent almost 40 years in Kentucky. I know the drill.

Seriously, though, do you really think there's any doubt about what country that guy on the toilet is from?

He just doesn't get it, does he???

This cracked me up and I sent the link to several of my friends back in the States that were very envious of my move to Sweden - they are all well-informed enough to see that moving here was the opportunity of a lifetime and I look forward to weeks of visitors. I love the U.S. too (which, by the way, so to most of the Swedes I know), but come on....this place is great.

Keep up the good work, you are very entertaining and I am going to go back and read your past blogs, looking forward to reading in the future.

I find this article incredibly offensive. You're lumping all Americans into this mold of what you think we are. Every country has crazies and extremists. I know for a fact that America is not "number one", but I still love my country. Personally I think you're being very judgmental, especially your choice in pictures for this article. What makes you so damn sure that these are American's?

Shame on you
