Långholmen FC are an English speaking club currently playing in Div 3. This blogg keeps you up to date in their weekly progress and news of the other happenings in that division.

Tyresö managed to pull off the shock of the weekend with a notable 1-0 victory away to league leaders Konyaspor, Tommy Ehns early first half strike was enough to give his side the points.

Mälarhöjden were pushed down to second bottom of the league as they were thrashed 6-0 at Älvsjö, Joel Skaaret with two in a six goal rout. Tellus won comfortably enough away to inconsistent Vagnhärads, Ian Mack scoring in a double in a 3-0 victory.

Spårvägen remain in third place in the league after winning a closely contested battle against Enhörna. Down at Södertälje, Assyriska Ungdom move to the top of the table after defeating Huddinge by two goals to nil, Erido Poli got one of his sides goals to make sure he is the divisions highest goalscorer.

Långholmen were unfortunate not to win against Panellinios, despite being two goals in front they had to settle for a share of the spoils. Chris Allen and Colm Kenny got the counters for the Stripes in a match that saw the away teams keeper pull off a string of superb saves.

This weeks top match in the division is on Friday night when Älvsjö take on Konyaspor. Mälarhöjden face a tough game against Spårvägen and Långholmen make the trip south to face Huddinge on Sunday night.

Three draws and the top teams keep on with that winning streak. Last weeks games saw Långholmen kick-off earlier than the scheduled time at Aspuddens IP and by the time most spectators had found their place on the terracing the home team, Tellus, were already ahead by two quick goals. Thomas Carlsson with the strikes in the 1st and 3rd minutes of play. The visitors did not fold and pulled the game back to 2-2 after two great goals by Alex Bodini. The home side looked to have sealed things when once again they went ahead, but Colm Kenny had other ideas and scored the equaliser with 5 minutes on the clock.

Tyresö and Vagnhärads also played out an entertaining match at Bollmoravallen. The away side coming back from a goal down to take the lead before Mattias Andersson netted to make share the points were evenly divided.

The top side Konyaspor had a scare against a determined Mälarhöjden before Karic made it 3-1 with 6 minutes to play. Assyriska also netted 3 times without response at Panellinios, Erido Poli and Aday Kaplan both scoring for the fourth time this season to keep their side nicely positioned in second place in the table.

Elsewhere Huddinge lost to Spårvägen and Tyresö could only draw at home to Älvsjö.

This week sees a couple of very interesting matches. Assyriska take on fourth placed Huddinge and at the bottom Långholmen face Panellinios at Essinge IP. This really is a crucial match for both sides as neither have recorded a victory this season.

League table Week 5

Långholmen FC are not enjoying the start of their Div 3 campaign with only one point taken from the opening four matches. It is a big step up from last year and they have yet to settle into a formation and game plan that suits. Tyresö FF took the points on Saturday at Essinge in a narrow 1-0 victory, Mattias Anderssons 49 minute strike enough to settle what was otherwise a pretty uneventful game.

The clubs surrounding the Stripes, Panellinios and Mälarhöjden had mixed fortunes. The greek influenced team Panellinios picked up a well earned point at Spårvägen after leading the match for eighty minutes. The home team can thank the superbly named Prince Veigurs for the equaliser. Mälarhöjdens are too feeling the strain of stepping up a level and were comprehensively beaten by Enhörna, whose goals came in a seven minute period in the second half.

Konyaspor continue to lead the division after a 2-1 home vistory against Vagnhärads at Alby, they really are proving to be this seasons surprise packet.

Assyriska are pushing the table toppers and sit in second place after being pushed all the way by Tellus. Once again Gerhald Forschelet getting on the score sheet for Assyriska.

In the middle of the table Älvsjö and Huddinge put on a fine match and it was the visitors who stole the points with 5 minutes left to play, Bover Gultekin was the hero of the day for Huddinge.

This week Långholmen play against IK Tellus at Aspudden in what should be a closley contested match. The Stripes have one or two key players absent which means a couple of new faces may be drafted in from the reserves to bolster the squad. There should be a big crowd for this game, weather permitting.

Undoubtedly the most entertaining of the matches in round 3 was the encounter between Tyresö and league leaders Assyriska Ungdom. The home team found themselves down and out at the break with four goals conceeded and none scored, they found second wind for the last forty five and managed to even things up thanks to  double penalty kick goals from Mike Rickborg. Assyriska however netted a late winner to snatch it 5-4 and keep them in contention at the top of the league.

Spårvägen and Huddinge both made it two wins in a row and with that emphasize just how tight division 3 Östra Svealand will be this season, IK Tellus and Mälarhöjden were the teams on the receiving end this time round.

Bottom club Panellinios are still searching for a first win after another disappointing match against Älvsjö on Sunday, Brunzell getting the games only goal on the half hour mark.

Table toppers Konyaspor scored two goals in injury time to win 2-1 away to Enhörna, Kaya and Cuckovic getting the late counters at Södertälje Arena.

Vagnhärads missed out on a great chance to claim three points when a weakened Långholmen side came to visit. The visitors had a few late call offs and last seasons star striker Chris Allen took over in goal. The young Englishman played a big part in his sides 0-0 draw in a match the Stripes were unlucky not  to win.

This weeks fixtures:

Two matches coming up this week that are of particular interest are the matches between two teams near the foot of the table. Långholmen entertain Tyresö with both sides eager for that first three points of the season. No doubt another decent and vocal home support will make their way to Essinge IP. Huddinge and Älvsjö will be keen on catching up with the top two as fourth meets fifth on Thursday night.
