Div 3 Week 11 review

Monday, June 28th, 2010

The first half of the season ended at the weekend with no major shocks. Konyaspor however recorded a great 3-0 victory away to league leaders Assyriska and with it propell themselvbes back to the top of the table. It really is close at the top with only three points between first and fourth place. Långholmen once again were given a footballing lesson and once again conceeded 4 goals, Spårvägen were the victorious side this time. The Stripes were missing a handfull of key players and had to rely strongly on fringe players to make up the numbers. Club legend Robbie Graham made an appearance in this game and with it wrote himself into the Långholmen history books by being the first player to play for the club in all divisions.

Carl Major scored a double as Huddinge disposed of Panellinios, the bottom of the table side have been improving of late and will be confident of climbing the table in the second part of the season. Älvsjö had no problems with Vagnhärads and move closer to the top teams.

The teams at the bottom , like Långholmen, also let in four goals. Tellus taught Enhörna a lesson thanks to a fine hat trick by Christofer Törnlund. Mälarhöjden were no match for an effective Tyresö side and finish this half of the season on 7 points.

This week sees fixtures on both Tuesday and Wednesday as we move into the second part of the seaon. Långholmen face Spårvägen again in what will be a very hard match. The Stripes will have more or less half of their first team missing, the management will be scratching their heads in trying to find a way of not conceeding goals in this one.

Summer is upon us now and that means a break of about a month before the teams will be in action again and many will take the opportunity to reload their batteries and strenghthen their squads.

Div 3 week 10

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Last weekends results provided no fewer than 25 goals from the 6 matches played, definitely the team to watch if you want to witness goals is Långholmen FC, so far there have been 40 goals in the ten games they have played, being able to watch a match for free with án average of 4 goals per game is super value.

Unfortunately for the Stripes things have not been to well for them and this was evident again at the weekend when they were taught a footballing lesson by Älvsjö. A suicidal five minutes settled the issue as the away side punished shocking defending by the Stripes. The game finished 4-1.

Two games finished 4-3, Spårvägen lost out in a thrilling match in Södertälje, Assyriska led by 3-1 before Spårvägen pulled it back to 3-3, just when it looked to be a draw up popped super sub Melke Demir in injury time to fire home the winner. Tyresö came back to win after being 0-2 behind at the break to claim all 3 points at Tyresövallen.

Konyaspor played out a dreary 0-0 draw against bottom club Panellinios, this was the weeks bigest surprise, the result however means Konyaspor still remain second in the table.

Patrik Lodin scored on the stroke of half -time to give Mälarhöjden the lead at Vagnhärad, the home team managed to steal a point at the very end of the match, Hector Zaldivar the saviour in front of only 20 fans. IK Tellus are picking up momentum and recorded another home victory against Huddinge, that one finished 3-1.

Onto this week and the last round of games before the summer break. The teams at the top meet when Assyriska and Konyaspor lock horns, Spårvägen are favourites to dispose of Långholmen and Huddinge should have no real problem at home to Panellinios.

There is a real gap opening at the bottom and as it really does look like Enhörna, Långholmen, Mälarhöjden and Panellinios will be the teams facing the prospect of div 4 football next season, three are automatically relegated and the fourth bottom side will face a play -off.

Långholmen play against Spårvägen at Skarpnäcks Sportfältet on Thursday 22 June and the kick off time is 19.30.

Next week sees them play against the same team in a fixture that has been brought forward and that is Tuesday 29 June at Essinge IP.

Assyriska FF 10 7 1 2 29 - 19 10 22
Konyaspor 10 6 3 1 17 - 9 8 21
Spårvägen 10 6 2 2 22 - 10 12 20
Tellus 11 5 3 3 25 - 18 7 18
Älvsjö 10 4 4 2 25 - 16 9 16
Vagnhärad 10 4 4 2 15 - 12 3 16
Tyresö 10 4 3 3 19 - 18 1 15
Huddinge 10 5 0 5 15 - 17 -2 15
Enhörna 11 2 2 7 19 - 25 -6 8
Långholmen 10 1 4 5 16 - 23 -7 7
Mälarhöjden 10 2 1 7 9 - 27 -18 7
Panellinios 10 0 3 7 6 - 23 -17 3

Div 3 Round Up week 9

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

We are almost at the summer break in Div 3 and a few teams will be glad to take things easy for a bit. One of those are Panellinios, they are now the only team in the league without a win this season. Things are not geeting easier for the team with Greek connections after another defeat at the weekend, they actually led the game for almost an hour before losing out 4-1 to Tellus.

Last week Mälarhöjden produced a big shock by winning away to much fancied Assyriska, they were put firmly in their place by fellow strugglers Långholmen who won by a two goal margin. The clubs top scorer Colm Kenny and Pete McConnell were the men behind the goals, the latter scoring a fantastic effort from 20 yards out to secure a win for his side.

Two teams at the top Konyaspor and Spårvägen predictably played out a goalless draw at Alby IP. Spårvägen leading the table on goal difference.

Huddinge and Tyresö had an uneventful match which saw the home team scrape it 1-0, Tyresö now sit fifth bottom.

A hard fought derby saw Enhörna defeated by Vagnhärads at home and with that result sees them dangle dangerously near the relegation zone.

A Joel Bäckbom double helped Älvsjö dump Assyriska at Älvsjö IP. The away side took the lead in the first half before being given a footballing lesson by their hosts. It seems the wheels are coming off the Ungdoms wagon and they will be glad to get to the summer break after a dip in form.

This week the pick of the ties is the match between top of the table sides Assyriska and Spårvägen at the Södertälje Arena.

Långholmen take on an in form Älvsjö at home on Saturday, a match that promises to be a lot more interesting than some small wedding going on at the same time. Långholmen have a few key players absent this week, this gives some of the reserve players a good chance to prove what they can do.

The action starts at 14.00 at Essinge IP. No entrance fee

Div 3 Review. Week 8

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

The result that caught everyones attention in division 3 this week was Mälarhöjdens fantastic moral boosting win away to former table toppers Assyriska, Andreas Holm scored the opener and Johan Westlin made it two in the second half. This result gives Mälarhöjden real hope ahead of their bottom of the table clash against Långholmen on Sunday.

Spårvägens are the new league leaders after destroying Älvsjö at the weekend and are now living up to expectations as promotion candidates. The visitors were reduced to ten men mid way through the first half and then suffered an onslaught by their hosts, Lars Hagren grabbed a double in a 4-1 victory.

Tellus were defeated in a close match by Konyaspor who have dipped in form of late. Angelo Agabian got the only goal of the came at Vagnhäradsvallen as the local side played host to Huddinge.

Panellinios and Tyresö played out a highly entertaining match at Tyresö. The home side stormed into a 2 goal lead in as many minutes and were never threatened really by Panellinios, who finished the match with only 9 men, 4-2 was the final score .

Långholmen had a chance to claim a first victory of the season but once again could only manage a draw at home to Enhörna. Colm Kenny and Oskar Hentmark got the goals that mattered for the Stripes and not for the first time this term star striker Chris Allen was forced to go in goal due to the absence of Edwin Bergquist, the goalkeeping crisis will have to be solved soon if the club have any realistic chance of surviving in division 3 this season.

This week we look ahead to a top of the table clash and a bottom of the table clash. New leaders Spårvägen take on Konyaspor at home on Thursday night in what promises to be a cracking match. At the bottom rivals Mälarhöjden and Långholmen meet at Mälarhöjdens Ip on Sunday afternoon. The sides have met only once in a competitive match, the Nike Supercup last October which resulted in a 2-2 scoreline, this match also sees former Stripes player Mattias Larsson face his old team mates, although it may be from the dug out. Other matches include Tellus v Enhörna and Älvsjö v Assyriska.

Långholmen FC Div 3 Round Up

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

The Stripes came away from an entertaining encounter at Huddinge without any points but contributed to a great match for the neutrals present. Colm Kenny , Alex Bodini and Andy O’Sullivan got the goals for the visitors who never gave up the cause and with a bit of luck could have snatched a point.

Assyriska continue to dominate at the top of the division after disposing of Enhörna away from home, a double from Aday Kaplan came in a 3-0 scoreline.

Konyaspor were given a shock at Älvsjö in an ill tempered affair. The home team stormed into a two goal lead before the Konyaspor side equalised right on half time. The team that led the division early on now seem to be losing ground on leaders Assyriska.

Tellus and Tyresö played out a pretty tedious affair which resulted in a 1-1 draw at Aspudden.

Vagnhärads had no problems in disposing of bottom side Panellinios away from home, Marcus Holster scoring a double in the second half to secure the points for his team.

Mälarhöjden continue to find the going tough in division 3 when they were soundly beaten by Spårvägen, who now jump into second spot in the table ahead of Konyaspor.

This week and Långholmen have what is probably their most important match of the season so far. Enhörna visit Essinge IP only 4 points ahead of Långholmen, if Stuart Lascelles men can get maximum points from the next two games and something from the last two before the break they may have a good chance of pulling away from the bottom of the table and set things up in a more positive light for the second half of the season in August.

Both Långholmens neighbours at the foot of the table have tough games this weekend, Panellinios face a hard match at Tyresö and Mälarhöjden face on form team Assyriska, this weekend could produce a lot of goals in the divison.

Långholmen next game is this Saturday 5th June at Essinge IP with a 2pm kick-off.
