that remind me that i am in sweden.
-screens. most windows in sweden don’t have screen, even though the mosquitoes here are bird-like. seriously. if one of those things gets a hold of you, you may need to seek medical help.
-radiator. most houses here have radiators on the wall. ours are still heated by water, but newer houses use electric.
-bold wallpaper. you see it everywhere.
-indiska. one of my most favorite stores. i have their jewelry, clothes, home decor, dishes…
-hard wood floors. swedes have discovered that carpet is disgusting (think about it. you can’t ever get it really clean and you let your babies crawl around on it!) so you never see it here. i am not even sure that you can buy it.
-duvet covers. the whole bed situation is so weird to me. you have a duvet cover and comforter (like you see at ikea) and a flat sheet for the mattress. often you see that the 2 people in the bed have their own little twin sized cover. i prefer this way. it keeps mine and my husband’s skin from sticking together.
-blackout shade. in the summer time we have about 22 hours of light outside. during this time, you need a blackout shade to keep the room dark. these things work in the middle of the day when the sun is begging to come in and wake me up after i have been up all night blogging…
-ikea…well, everything. our bed, bedding, pillows, curtain, closet curtains, lamps, ceiling light, blackout shade, extension cord, picture frames, votive holders, votive candles and rug.
-the clock. they kick it military time style.
-the outlets. instead of the 2 vertical lines, they have round holes. it’s called the europlug. tip: don’t try bringing your hairdryer. it will literally shit in your face and all over your hand. then, you can send your husband running to the store to get you a new one so that you won’t be late for that wedding. why didn’t he think to tell you?!
the bathroom is a crazy place…and the roads! here’s a preview: one of my favorite sights so far was a ford focus wagon pulling a camper trailer…and that’s normal to see!
