Thank you for your input. There is nothing wrong with being a nerd ;-) "Ett batteri" does, just like you say, belong to the third declension. Other words in that category are "bageri", "kalori" and "idé". The thumb rule here is that these words are en- and ett-words ending with -eri, -ori and -é.
