Hej alla!
How’s the new year coming along? I just realized it has been almost a year since I wrote my first post here. I want to thank you all so much for reading and contributing to the content by posting interesting, challenging and inspiring questions.
In my upcoming posts I’m planning to discuss more partikelverb, reflexive verbs (like “lära sig”) and conjunctions. Now I want to know what you have been wondering about all winter
! Post all questions you have, challenge the Swedish Teacher again (or remind me if I have missed one of your questions).
Til next time!

Hej Sara,
Jag är glad att läsa den här sidan därför att jag har många saker att fråga dig och hoppas att du kan förklara
Jag har problem om några ord med lika betydelse. Kan du förklara om skilldnaden och ge något exempel?
+ klar, färdig (jag frågade redan min svensk kompis, men han kunde inte förklara riktigt) t.ex. Jag är klar. Jag är färdig. Här är exempel på engelska: I’m ready. Are you ready? I’ve done it. I finished it. It’s done. The class is finished now. etc.
+ mår, känner sig (båda betyder “feel”, eller hur? men värför “jag mår inte bra” men “jag känner mig sjuk”?)
+ kring, omkring, cirka, runt, ungefär (around, about, approximately, …)
Tack för hjälpen! Jag ser fram emot din förklaring.

Hi,
I have one more question, I think it wasn’t mentioned yet.
How do you express invitation to do something together? For example “Let’s go to the theater tonight” or “Let’s buy some ice cream”.
Thanks!

Hi again,
Thank you for your explanation on fler/flera, mer/mera.
Would you be so kind to explain also the difference among ändras, förändras, förvandlas, förvandla sig, [för]ändra sig, växla, skifta, kasta (slå) om, lägga om.
Also, I am ready a book called “När natten är som mörkast” (When the night is like the darkest). Why do they drop the article? Why isn’t it “När natten är som (DEN) mörkast”?
Thank you again for your help,
Carlos

Hi everybody!
There is something that just wont stick inside my head! When to use “sin/sitt/sina” or “hans/hennes”.
Ex: He is driving his car. That is his car.
I just cant understand the difference of those 2!!!
Tks a lot in advance!

sin/sitt/sina you imagine like “his own” and hans/hennes – as “his”. Am I right? For me it’s easier to know which to use, because in my language it’s also similar

I’m wondering why when you arrive by train into Stockholm main station the signs read “Stockholm Central”. But when using the South or North stations a mysterious extra ‘-s’ appears “Stockholms Södra / Stockholms Norra”

Hej Sara,
Could you please explain when to use “när” and when to use “då”?
Tack!

Hej,
Have you done the difference in Swedish and English when it comes to using the present participle. That was one of the hardest things to wrap my head around when I first started learning Swedish, because I would want to construct sentences with the present participle all the time, but you don’t usually do that in Swedish.
For example: “I am running”, “I am singing”, “I am doing it” would be “jag springer”, “jag sjunger”, “jag gör det.” Which is a different tense and something that is important for English speakers learning Swedish to understand.
Another thing is that in English we stick the verb “do” in everywhere, “How do you cook rice?” Whereas in Swedish you usually ‘do’ without it. “Hur lagar man ris?” instead of, “Hur gör man lagar ris?”

Hej Sara! i’ve asked this before but got no answer
what is the difference between “Ställa in” and “Inställa” for example? I’ve noticed many verbs have these two forms but don’t understand when to use which? thank you

Hello Sara,
I am trying to build up my vocabulary, and I have noticed that the following words seem to have the same meaning in English:
håll and riktning
Can you tell me what the difference is between these two words please. I can’t tell if they are synonyms or not.
I hope I m not asking a silly question
Here are some more words I hope you can help me with:
mot – fram emot
vred – ilsken
vred – arg
medvetslöst – avsvimmed
skymma – dölja
därpå – sedan
orka – kunna
skämta – spratt
bära – föra
orätt – fel
sån – sådan ……and …. nåt sånt – något sådant
tursam – lycklig
hop – stack
påfallande – slående
kort – bild (photo)
I hope you don’t mind answering my question. I can imagine to you this might seem simple and basic!
