Hi,
I won't bore you with the details, I simply would like to know if anyone has any experience in cancelling a transaction that was made on a debit card "willingly" that now appears to be a misrepresented purchase. In the U.K. your bank will refund a transaction to your account within 24hrs and then it is between you and the receiver to work it out. I have contacted "Swede" bank and a rude lady said that there was nothing I could do through the bank and could only deal with it via the receiver. While this may be true I am just wondering if there is in fact a policy with the bank that protects it's customers from unscrupulous business's ?????. Thanks |

So let's see,
You were out drinking last Friday, had a bit too much and then decided to head for the gentlemen's club. Now that you've sobered up, you've decided that the strippers were not worth it and the money you "willingly" paid, you would rather have, well, "willingly" back. Sorry, it does not work that way. Not in Sweden and not in the UK either. There are standard procedures for requesting chargeback if the "goods" you paid for were not delivered, were damaged etc. and these are pretty much the same all over the world. The word for chargeback is "kortreklamation" and you can find appropriate forms to submit to the bank e.g. here: http://www.nordea.se/Privat/Vardagstj%C3%A...ion/797352.html ~~~PDX~~~ |

Have you made an official report that the business if fraudulent - a Police report?
As otherwise anyone could just walk in and cancel payment on goods/services already received |

Is a UK bank really prepared to refund a purchase on a debit card...is it not the case that credit cards offer protection under the UK Consumer Credit Act of 1974? Debit cards are just the same as withdrawing your own cash from your account and handing it over.
