Hi Folks,
My girlfriend will be graduating from from her medical degree next week, Her parents have asked me to come up with a few ideas of restaurants. We really don't eat out much so I don't really know about what there is. They have told me not to concern myself with price, but i'm still looking for realistic prices. Do you know anywhere particularly nice? |

Hey Snood,
Can you narrow down the desired cuisine? There are some really excellent restaurants in Göteborg, still within a reasonable price range (a few hundred SEK per head). Even places like the fish hall Feskekörka have excellent dinners. For something exotic, try Zaika. I could not yet find a better Indian restaurant than this over here in Stockholm. ~~~PDX~~~ |

Thanks for the suggestions,
I think in terms of cuisine both my girlfriend and her parents would really like it if I suggested Swedish food or somewhere which does a mix of styles, but I think Scandinavian is the way to go. Magnus Magnus looks really interesting but they seem to have a VERY restricted menu, it wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for me not eating red meat and unable to eat most nuts. Sjomagasinet looks fantastic, I shouldn't worry about the price but on trip advisor there seems to be some people saying it's not worth it and some saying it's not as good as when they had their Michelin star chef. any other suggestions? |

Kok & Vin is the best restaurant in Gothenburg and rated 3rd in Sweden by the white guide. If you call a bit ahead when you make your reservation I am sure they would be more than happy to accomodate your requirements as most top end restaurants will fix a menu specific to your needs. Take care and bon appetit.

Is price an issue? Because if not then restaurant at the Avon hotel has excellent food and decent service for Sweden. Also we love this spot called Calleo, extreamly good food, go early though because they don't take reservations and they are always packed. Also kitchen 21 I believe its called it's wonderful. Probably the best food I've had in Gothenburg was there. Good luck!!!
