I didn't realise that potato waffles were considered an English delicacy.

@Byke you can stock up on AXE while you are there.

I find shopping at Lidl to be both degrading and frustrating.
(Although I do appreciate the alternative selection, even if its not what I want)

Firstly you have to be seen entering such an establishment with usually the dredge of society, and then you have to wait a stupid amount of time to "checkout" because of understaffing combined with their "special degree" in skills or their, lack of.

However, if you in for a good laugh there are some amazingly funny products in there.

While shopping for bog role, I spotted Piña colada flavored johnnies.
So the women special in your life can get sloshed on a semen based cocktail without ever touching a drop. Whilst also leaving their fanny with a distinct aroma reminiscent to that of women who holiday in Faliraki.

I can't imagine what sort of tampons Lidl sell - "pull chain in case of emergency" - "Penalty fifty pounds" (I am guessing the penalty is not a monetary penalty, but an accurate description of the average size of shoppers in Lidl).

/Jokes aside - good to see Lidl offering something different. - But its not my cuppa tea.

I like Lidl for one simple reason ...because all their customers are strapped for cash, their prices are always correct. At other places, prices are frequently not correct.

+1 to the list of Lidl shoppers, I like it because most of their customers (also immigrants) also eat vegetables and therefore their veg is the freshest in town. The more "Swedish" supermarkets often have a little cloud of fruit flies around the veg :-(

I didn't realise you lived in such a poor neighbourhood Byke!

No such problems in my local Lidl here in Trelleborg. I find it is a pleasure to shop in, friendly & efficient staff, never a long queue at the checkouts and certainly no one I could describe as the "dredge of society".

The only problem I have with Lidl here is that the range of products on offer here is much smaller than in Lidl in Ireland and when I compared prices after we moved here 2 years ago the exact same products were as much as 50% dearer here than in Lidl Ireland, which I find incredible as what I compared were all things that are sourced in Germany so the trip to get here is far more direct than their trip to Ireland.

For the most part prices in Lidl here are more expensive than in the likes of Willys and I find that while I shop there every week shop I generally only buy products that I haven't found elsewhere such as their nice creamy UHT milk which is always good to have in the house so you are never caught without being miles from the nearest shop as we are, Or products which I am used to such as their Museli and Pizzas.

I like Lidl for the fresher produce and the quick shopping. Limited choice means less time spent choosing... you want strawberry jam, they only have 1 kind... put it in the cart and move on. Only problem is that some things they carry aren't any good and some are just fine. You have to try and remember what's worth buying somewhere else. Then you have to go to another shop for it which can really eat into any time you saved by going to Lidl ;-)

What do you mean by "Swedish supermarkets"? Do the quality of the vegs become worse the more "swedish" the supermarkets are? Why so? Because the Swedes don`t eat vegs?

My view on food quality OVERALL, in terms of veg is that the quality is very poor and very overpriced.

But if Swedes or other residents in Sweden are happy with what they get in regards to what they pay, then those actions speak louder and clearer over everything else in both what they view as quality and what they are willing to actively support.
